On Redskins.com, the poll asks who will win the nickel corner job during camp and Ade Jimoh is winning with a staggering 48 percent of the votes. Mark my words, Kenny Wright was brought in here for one thing and that was to solidify the nickel corner spot and improve on last year's unreliable and inconsistent performance from Walt Harris. I mean Wright's stats speak for themselves last year: 78 tackles, 2 INT in 16 starts. The guy will not be the 4th corner and while I love Jimoh and think he will make the 53 man roster, he has little chance, if any to be the nickel corner.

Jimoh has taken a lot of flak from the fans (rightfully so) over the last few years, but I've seen some steady improvement in his play. Plus, the coaches have to see something they like in him to keep him on the roster this long. He must be doing something right in practice. I think Wright will be in there, but Jimoh might just give him a good run for the money.

What's even worse is that Morton, Patterson and OTHER have all received votes as well.

I think people are doing that just to be funny.

There's a reason why those voting aren't coaching. Wright will be the nickel back. Jimoh is improving as a CB a will probably see increased playing time. The biggest reason he's on the roster is his ST play, particularly as a gunner on punt coverage.

My response exactly. His rookie season, his middle name was toast. Joe's first year back, he still got burned quite a bit, but he made a lot of really nice plays in the clutch. Last year, I don't seem to remember him drawing my ire more than a couple of times, and I often applauded his performance. The kid obviously has heart, or he would have been gone after his rookie campaign. I think he is going to show everyone something this season. That being said, I voted for Wright.

Jimoh still hasn't shown me a lot in the secondary. Special teams? That's where I've seen improvement thus far.

i think people are generally uninformed about that position and the votes reflect what names people know. It takes a true fan to be well versed at positions that are not the "star" positions.

Deoin Sanders ring a bell? Sure he was a puke but dude made the position popular. Its definately a "star" position in my book.

That most fans don't recognize that Kenny Wright is probably better than Ade Jimoh doesn't suprise me. I'd bet most people here haven't really seen him play.

Also, he didn't specify where on the depth chart. He said that DB wasn't a star position and I dont think thats true.

I included safeties...so whats the problem? My point that its a star position. I dont need to include safeties to prove my point. Most of the star power in the defensive secondary comes from the CBs anyway. So lets nix the safeties and name CBs whom he said aren't "stars".

These are all starting cornerbacks, none are nickelbacks. And yes, Deion Sanders and Darrell Green both did play nickel corner at the end of their careers, but I hope we can agree that they are the exception rather than the rule.

I misread what he said. I thought he was refferring to the CB as a whole.
