Snyder's radio venture ready to launch

According to dcrtv.com, Tuesday is the start date and they have the beginnings of their web site up and running.

I'm still trying to process the name they came up with, though:

http://www.triplexespnradio.com/

Reception is a totally different matter. Driving home on US 50 (NE DC to Lanham), 92.7 was crystal clear. Too bad that's only the case on the car radio. Everything else -- home stereo, walkman, boombox -- was very week or totally inaudible.

Unfortunately, when a radio station has a weaker signal... you're really at the mercy of the quality of your tuner.

Home stereo, walkman, boombox.... lousy tuners, hence, lousy reception.

Car tuners are some of the best you will find as they need to be to even function. You can get a good tuner for your home stereo, but you're likely using whatever tuner was integated into your system. Hit a pawn shop... buy a dedicated tuner component if you can find one... plug it in to your auxillary jack on your stereo and you'll likely find you get much, much better reception. Or you can go out to your garage and listen to it in the car when you're at home.

I'm sure it won't take long for Snyder to improve the amplification. If the market is there, it'll be fed... personally I think they just wanted to get it going before training camp so that they could 'get their feet wet' and 'test the waters'. :hmm:

Home stereo, walkman, boombox.... lousy tuners,

 none seem to work from my location. I've tried holding the radio over my head and walking around the house still nothing.
And no reception on I95 at all

It's been awesome. On 94.3, they have been playing play-by-play from games last year since yesterday. I sat in the driveway with my rental car yesterday and listened to the highlights from the second Cowboys game.

Well yeah, you're still going to have to be closer than Florida for even a car tuner to work.

Can't get it up here in Canada... even tried building a radio tower out of the top of my igloo...

Try building with cans. Molson bottles won't work.

I have one of those Radio Shack amplified antennas. I stretched it as close to the window as possible. I can get 92.7 in mono, but not stereo.

That wasn't the problem.

My igloo melted because it was 95 degrees yesterday... but you guys always tell me that we live in igloos, so I thought it should work.

RedskinsFreak... it isn't just about the antenna, it'sabout the actual tuner in the component that the antenna is plugged into. like any audio component... it can have dramatically different 'quality' components in certain areas... very few integrated stereos place much value on the tuner anymore and consequently... they're very bare bones solutions.

There are so many parameters that I couldn't possibly go into it, but if there is a station close to the call letters you're trying to tune... a cheap tuner won't cut it. Try setting your tuner to mono regardless of the signal you're tryin to receive... sometimes it helps the tuner.

Bottom line is this... if you can listen to the radio station in your driveway in your car, but not in your house... chances are that a good tuner WILL solve the problem. It's not optimal and like i said, I'm sure it won't take Redskins Radio long to start upping amplification for these station if the audience is there.

Perhaps they'll eventually offer a 'listen live' link on their website and this will all be moot, and even I will be able to tune in.

So far I can get both 92.7 and the AM station. The AM station is very clear. I tried everything at 5am on the way to work to no success, it seems that they just werent broadcasting that early.

Yep...noticed that this morning while driving to work. It was fun just listening to highlights of last year, can't wait for the football season to start. Shoot the JR show today at 4 should be all about the NFL.

STUPID FM AMP doesn't freaking fit on my receiver and even still its bringing in some FRICKIN carribean station!!! How is that possible when 20 feet from my room my car brings in the skins station on 92.7?!? Of course I can't get the AM station in my room.

Thank goodness for the internet. I should know better than to use that billion year old technology.

I'm good with it for now. Mono helps. The closer I get that antenna to the window, the better.

Too bad the web site will be prohibited from streaming the games.

I don't know what I completely think about this. I read somewhere that Snyder will have full control over it and you know how redskins.com never says anything negative about the skins. Even when they are clearly doing bad.

They had an ESPN guy on yesterday who isn't to enthused about the Skins. Maybe it wont be 100% biased.

Didn't we already beat this drum in another thread already?

I personally don't see 'bias' as a problem here... will there be more positive than negative? More than likely.

At the expense of all integrity?

Not likely.

It's the Redskins Radio network... why WOULDN'T they have a lot of positive Redskins content?

I don't get it... people whine when the media bash the Skins without cause... people whine if someone sings their praises... just what do some of you want out of the media? Do you even know yourselves?

Sure don't seem like it.

... pretty easy to turn the channel when you don't like something...

You are 100% correct. Same for politic's. If you don't like what someone says you don't have to vote for him/her. I get it. I was just making a point that they probably will be a bit more biased than other radio stations that do not have the same owner as the team itself. Will I listen, yes. I don't live in an area to be exposed and consumed with Redskins info. I have to seek it out in THN and other websites/radiostations like 980.

To give you an idea of what I like is Brian Mitchell. He calls people out when they struggle but gives them the praises when they suceed. I feel like he has been in their position and offers a bit more insight than other commentators. Just my two cents.

I don't disagree at all... and were I able to listen to BM regularly, I would. All I'm saying is that I think that people seem to have such a black and white view of this that they aren't seeing the grey in between.... which is probably where their programming will end up falling into. There may be some polar positives, there may be some polar negatives... some stuff will be in between. I think as listeners, all you can wish for is integrity. You don't want a total homer because it destroys credibility, but at the same time, I think having an eye for the 'positive' will be a refreshing approach (for me personally) compared to the sensationalistic standards that have become so prevalent in main stream media.
