Normally I wouldn't get all worked up about this, because I already think Peter King is a moron. His new MMQB talks about the 10 players he thinks have been jilted in regards to the Hall Of Fame. Surprise, surprise. Art Monk is nowhere to be found on his list. What a travesty. That burns me up.

On Michael Irvin, he says this: "Catching 750 balls for a three-time Super Bowl winner and being the key guy in the locker room on game days ... that should make him a gimme."

Now go and look up irony in the dictionary. What a nutter.

Of the other nine on his list, I would never consider a player who can't even remember to take his helmet out on to the field in a Superbowl to be HOF material, so Thurman Thomas is out. I can't argue with Dawson, Craig or Zimmerman. Not sure about Thomas, and I don't really know enough about the others to comment. For me, the jury is still out on Parcell - I think he needs another SB to make it, and I don't think he'll be going there with Dallas.

This is one NY Giants fan who has lived in the DC area for 26 of the past 34 years. When I couldn't see or hear the Giants, or the Giants didn't play at the same time, I watched or listened to the Skins games.

Of course, I was always rooting for the Skins opponent. But, I will tell you that I can respect a player even if I don't like the team. If you loved Art Monk and the Skins, you already know how good he was. If you rooted against the Skins, Monk always was a source of pain for you--year after year after year.

Art Monk was an incredible receiver, a gentleman, and just a quiet, complete professional. The fact that he is not already in the Hall is a travesty (Justice, you could look this up in the dictionary). For Peter King not to include him on that list of 10 is a joke.

For what ever it is worth, many of us long-term Giants fans had the same situation with Harry Carson, who played in LT's shadow. But we wrote letters and did all we could to support his election. He finally got in this past year.

I, for one, would be glad to participate in any fan-based campaign for Art Monk. He deserves it.

Just becasue he coached against two of the rivals doesn't mean isn't a hall of famer. He won two superbowls. He has taken 4 diffrent teams to the playoffs and has a 13-6 record against Joe Gibbs. He is a hall of famer.

By the way, as a Washingtonian who has lived in new York for 37 years, I felt the same way about Harry Carson. Great but overlooked when the Giants were weak, and then great but overlooked because the Giants had LT.

There are a lot of former Skins who, IMHO, belong in the HOF. Chris Hanberger (more pro bowls than any other redskin) Pat Fisher, Joe Jacobi & Russ Grimm come immediately to mind.

I remember some of those old Giants defenses, mostly the linemen and linebackers. For some reason I don't remember any of the secondarys, but the Giants' front seven were a scary bunch for a long time.
