You'll find this to be very funny.

I hate both Best Buy and Circuit City. I was about to by an LCD tv at CC a while back, but ended up walking out because the associate got pissed off when I told him no thanks on the $150 Monster cable and I can get it cheaper on Ebay (which I did, 40 bucks ). Also, he basically wouldnt let me buy the tv without the extra warranty for 350 more bucks. Then he started 'explaining' to me the nature and intricate workings of the LCD tv. I walked out mid-sentence.

Try getting someone on the phone at Best Buy = impossible! Or when you do, try getting an helpful answer.
It's a joke.

CLL... I bought a HDTV from them a few years back and it was the most horrendous experience ever. Well 4 TV's later (yes it took 4 to get one that worked) and a month gone by, I never have set foot in a Best Buy again. THE WORST shopping experience ever.

I am all for hatting big business, but whats wrong with best buy? Perhaps I would understand more if I were making larger and more important purchases there. I only buy movies and music there.

When I go to Best Buy to buy say a CD or a video game, I can't go two steps without someone asking if they can help me. Meanwhile, on the few times we have gone in to buy larger items (most recently a laptop) my wife and I end up standing around waiting for the sales people to finish flirting with customers or discussing their off work plans. The best part of the trip was the sales girl trying to sell us a Best Buy credit card, while we where paying for the laptop with what? You guessed it a Best Buy credit card.
I don't think it has anything to do with big business; those stores just have incompetent people working there.

Up here in Canada we have Future Shop and Best Buy, I always find the best place to go is were they dont work on commission, they wont try to sell you everything. That would be best buy, at least in Canada.

I never had the problems mentioned in this thread about Best Buy; however, I will say this. When I go to any store, I would much rather an associate be overly-attentive to me than not finding anyone that will help me.

It always strikes me as odd that there is always someone willing to point me in the direction of the newest edition of Madden or the new Peal Jam cd, but when I want to get something expensive like say an ipod or a laptop I have to wait on their associates to sew up the lose ends in their social lives.

i hate best buy for a different reason...i used to want to work there becuase their employees get amazing discounts on pretty much everything, and since im a computer geek/music aficionado/gamer, i figured it would be an awesome place to work.
i filled out their job application...4 times.
i went there once...to check on the progress of my applications.
i was not in their system because i "failed their personality test.".............how do you fail a personality test, unless you're DEAD?
and all that stuff about the associates...its true, they hire a bunch of teenagers who "pass" their test, and then turn them loose on civilization. myself, i am 18 and still in high school, and they talk to me like they know me instead of helping me with my stuff--its hwy i never ask for help in a store like best buy.
as for circuit city, i haven't really had any problems.
