Yeah they are clearly rebuilding.
To me Favre is being selfish.

I'm not an athlete. Haven't been since I was about 17 (and even then it's quite arguable whether I was one.)

That being said, I think the statement that Favre is being selfish is absurd.

If any NFL player still thinks he has an ounce of "juice" left, and he has a desire to play and a love of the game still present in his heart, I will never ever question their decision to keep playing.

The decision as to when to retire has got to be one of the toughest a professional athlete can make. If they decide to keep playing, it may not be the "smartest" thing to do but it certainly isn't "selfish."

I guess I just see it as the sooner Favre retires, the sooner the Packers start to become a better team.

I'm not going to argue with you there....just the whole "selfish" thing, I think, is a little off the mark.

My 2 cents

I hear you. Agree to disagree.

I am must a Favre hater.
I hate him because all the love he gets even when he plays like crap.
That's not his fault, so I guess my reason for hating him is stupid, but I can't help myself.

Good! that just means one less team to contend for a playoff spot in the NFC.

I think that everyone better watch out. He is still Brett Favre and he can still make plays. If any of you guys don't believe that then your a fool. The will pick up their WR's in this years draft. Don't forget, they do have Rod Gardner also and he was good enough to start for us in years past. Who knows, he could help Favre out. All I'm saying is that guys a legend. One of the best ever at the position and I don't think that you can just brush him off. He's too good for that.

You know, had Favre not evolved into Danny Wuerffel over the past two years, you might have a point there.

Favre is on the way out, and just came back for the publicity and parting gifts. My 2 cents

Plus, Rod "50/50" Gardner...a threat???!!!!! ROTFALMAO

BF is a great player that did not know when to quit.

Nothing at Green Bay has changed so significantly (Woodson's addition not withstanding) to convince anybody that the team can have a winning record. He will regret this decision.

I respect the guy as a leader but not being able to let go is clouding his judgment. I wish him well as long as it is not against us.

he should have retired but it,s his choice to keep playin when maybe he should look the other way.

is it good for him and the nfl as a whole to keep playin or just retire.

i say i wish him well he,s a great player on a below average team now looking down not up.

What are you talking about?!? Ok, last year he was awful - just tried to force too many things in desperation - but he lost his best WR (Javon Walker) in the first game of the season, and his best RB (Ahman Green) only lasted 5 games as well, so he didn't have much to work with in '05. He also lost some solid linemen, so he was running for his life half the time he was out there.
However, all that being said, he was somewhere between good and great in '04 - heck, his '04 numbers were better than Brunell's '05 numbers, and Brunell's got no shortage of defenders on this board. I still think that if he has support (just like ANY QB needs), he can still be solid, or even great again.

Packers | Driver disgruntled over team's failure to redo contract
Thu, 27 Apr 2006 12:47:01 -0700

Michael Smith, of ESPN.com, reports Green Bay Packers WR Donald Driver is mad that the team has not re-done his deal and wants to be traded or released.

Looks like the same thing that happened to us last year.
GB's 1 and 2 WRs do not want to be there.
Lets hope they can find Favre a Santana Moss or they may have another bad year.

I think that they will find some guys who can play. I like GB. I think more than anything I have respect for them because of the history of the franchise. Legends have been born there. They will do something. Favre wouldn't have come back unless they had plans. Do you all really think that the reason he came back was b/c they were going to work on Dfense. I think that they have bigger problems than that and they are going to fix them b4 the season.

But how?
They can only do so much in the draft.

It also looks like they might start having locker room problems if they keep these guys around.

Don't forget about guys who get cut after the draft and players released late and possible trades. Trust me, they will do something or maybee Brett is just going to do things different. Having Ahmad Green in his backfield will really help out a lot. Samkan Ghato wasn't striking fear in D's eyes and making them stack the box. Thats why he scored 3 td's in his first game.
