Maple Leafs Fire Quinn

... and BossHog throws a party to celebrate the end of the paleozoic era in Toronto.

Best of luck to Quinn, may he go and wreck another team next year. :-"

In all seriousness, he had some good years in Toronto... but the 'new NHL' seems to have passed him by. He lost the team early in the year.

Sufficeth to say that I'm happy that the Leafs are going in a different direction because they just seemed to have NO direction this year. Injuries played a large part but the fact that the young kids brought up from the minors showed little or no drop off in talent sounds good... but really it isn't.

Why weren't they the ones on the team in the first place if they're AS good... they make less, have more to learn and need the experience.

In reality it was that the Leafs have spent so much time 'juggling lines' that there's no negative to bringing in new guys... nobody is that familiar with playing with anybody. It took 60 games for the Leafs to start playing like a team... most of the guys figured it out at the olympics when they went and played for another coach for two weeks.

Absolutely no continuity, absolutely no accountability, and absolutely no consistency mean absolutely no success.

And the end of the Pat Quinn era.

:celebrate:

Here's captain Mats Sundin's reaction:

What? You mean I don't have to play on the first line with the last two guys we brought up from the minors any more?

Unfortunatly, I don't agree firing Quinn was the awnser, trouble still lies ahead, there's still no guarentee Paul Maurice move to the leafs from the marlies and there are not alot of candidates out, Andy Murray would be nice. Pat was a casulty of the cap and the new rules, He should have been given another year. 2 Confrence Finals, 2 second round departures and 2 first round exits, not to shabby for 8 seasons. 6 post seasons and this year is the only blemish.

Quinn had to go. It was a matter of time (too long if you ask me).

Problem is that the Leafs are not a young team. They are a mix of old and young players. Big decisions to retain and let go players await.

There is no question that the current team under performed this season. The current team has enough talent to have gone to the playoffs without a doubt.

Some of us questioned the acquisition of Eric Lindros in this board. It did not take a genius to figure out that he would not last the entire season and he would disrupt the lines.

Last but not least: How about the kid from Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia???

S, Crosbie proved to be a star in this league. Anybody that plays for one of the weakest teams in the NHL and still achieves 102 points is a true NHL player.

Go Crosbie!

Shame on me. I confusing his last name with the one of a formar Federal Minister from Newfoundland and Labrador.

Shame on me. His family home is only five minutes from my house.
