What if....St. Louis Stallions

Back in the early 1990s, a group fronted by Walter Payton presented a bid to the NFL for an expansion franchise for St. Louis.

The team was to be called the St. Louis Stallions, and would feature blue, gold and white in their color scheme. There were even uniforms made and t-shirts were seen all over the St. Louis area promoting the new team.

Unfortunately for them, the expansions went to the Carolina Panthers and the Jacksonville Jaguars, thus leaving St. Louis without the NFL until the Rams moved to the Mound City, starting play there in 1995.

But, still, what if the franchise had been granted?
Could we have seen the St. Louis Stallions in the National Football League?

I believe we may very well could have, and I think the 'Skins would have beaten them, 9 times out of 10.

Five of those tem wins would have been on our home field, three of those at RFK.

Just think about it, and then let's talk about it.

Yes, it does look much like what would become the Denver Broncos logo.

When the Broncos unveiled their new logo and color scheme in 1997, Walter Payton said, "They stole it from us. They stole it from the St. Louis Stallions."

And now, there's a company in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, that has mini-helmets of the Stallions. The company is called My Team Spirit, and you can find them on the web at MyTeamSpirit.com, they've got quite a selection.

Also, check out their store on ebay. It's a gas, gas, gas. Jumpin' Jack Flash!

Do you work for this company or something. What's your affiliation with this club?

I have NO affiliation with My Team Spirit. I just bought a mini-helmet of the Birmingham Americans of the WFL from them last month on ebay.

I'm thinking of getting another mini-helmet from them sometime soon, and so I thought you'd like to join me in this endeavour.

andyjens89, it's good to hear from you up in the U.P., friend.

See you at Jack Kent Cooke Stadium!
