Help with THN V3...
Posted: Sun Apr 02, 2006 8:56 am
by BossHog
Well folks, I'm dilligently pounding away at the new THN and I need a little help. One of the requested new features I've received is a list of Redskin bars to watch games from. I have a fairly extensive list from scouring the web, but I could still use your help.
What I would like is the names of bars that you go to for games... I'm not so interested in people in the D.C area (we'll do those as well, but later) but people living in other states.
What we're looking for here is not neccessarily JUST Redskin hang outs... if there's a bar in your hometown that shows all NFL games... we want to know about it... because a fan can catch the game there right? So again... these don't have to be strictly Redskin hang outs, but ANY bar that you know a fan would be able to catch the game on.
And this isn't limited to just the United States. For all our international brothers out there, if there's a bar or pub in your hometown that shows Redskins football, please let us know.
Further to that... if you have any photos of you AT that bar drinking up some suds and football, then we want those too.
Ultimately, I might add the board names of THNers that you might find at those bars as well...
If you can, please include the name of the bar, the address, city, state and phone number.
Any help you can provide will serve as a reference on the site for evermore... and would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

This is a great Sportsbar to watch the games!! The best thing about it is that it is Smoke-Free. The bar features over 20 TVs including two 65" HD screens and a 92" HD projection screen. There are fans from every team you can think of that come here. They also have drink specials on Sunday and serve food from their own grill.

There's a sports bar/restaurant here in Durango.
They specialize in "broasted" chicken which is a way of frying at high pressure so it's less fat.
It's like healthy fried chicken. Plus they've got the usual bar, and like 4 TV's.
Hockey takes precedence for what they show on the big TV, and the Broncos are shown if they are on, but they are pretty open, and will change the channel if none of the other patrons seem to mind.
It's a pretty cool place.

The Pacific Inn Pub is my usual spot on Sunday in Seattle. It's a small place (only 4 TVs), but they do have Sunday Ticket. I'm a regular, and the guys there turn on the Skins every Sunday morning in anticipation of my arrival. The food is actually pretty good, with excellent fish and chips and the usual fare. The other fans that frequent the place are a mixed group, and the Seahawk fans are pretty mild as a whole.
Outside of that, this is a simple, no-frills joint where you can watch the game from a barstool without being overwhelmed by crowds.

For anyone who lives in the Newport Beach/ Orange County area of CA (like Herohamo), by Dad owns a pretty nice Sports Bar. The Classic Q right next to John Wayne Airport in Newport Beach. It has 14 Big Screens, and during football season each Big Screen shows one game, (but the only games with sound are the Chargers and Raider games

)
The Classic Q
4250 Martingale Way
Newport Beach CA 92660

I've been there a couple of times, and I've really enjoyed it. I met welch there, and I am looking forward to going back sometime during the football season. It's gotten some bad press recently, but I'm sure it'll be alright.

I go to Fatso's Sports Garden. They show all the games on big screen t.v.'s
Everyone wears their team jersey and talks friendly smack during the games. It is a great time.
Fatso's Sports Garden
1704 Bandera Rd
San Antonio, TX 78228-3805
(210) 432-0121
With 16 satellite receivers, if it's on TV, you can watch it at this sports haven.
The Scene
Fatso's is an original idea that works well. It offers good food, volleyball, pool and an overdose of television, all at reasonable prices. The bar area consists of a room full of televisions and picnic tables, usually loaded with people, beer and nachos.
The Draw
Fatso's only charges a cover for pay-per-view events, including Sunday night wrestling. The volleyball leagues run every night from March through December, and Monday night is open play, if you want to try it out before you join. There's Trivia Network and karaoke on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights. Happy hour runs from 11am to 7pm every day. Fatso's is worth a try, whether you're looking for an evening of fun or a regular place to hang out.

Cheers (like the TV show) has a majority redskin attendance down here in Newport News, VA. Monday night games are awesome there with a hot dog bar espeically when 2 hours into the game the skins score 2 touchdowns to beat the broke back mountain 'boys'. Lotsa fun

In New York City, The Falls bar makes itself a Redskin-only place every Sunday.
The Falls
218 Lafayette St, New York 10012
(Btwn Spring & Kenmare St)
Phone: 212-226-5233 Fax: 212-226-5262
They might lose their liquour license, or otherwise be put out of business. One of their bouncers has been accused of raping and murdering a woman from the bar: investigation showed that the bouncer is a convicted felon. There has been a campaign to shut The Falls as punishmenmt for having hired a felon.
On the Sundays I went there, The Falls seemed like a decent place.
*
Blondies, a general-purpose sports bar on 79th between Broadway and Amsterdam, is a reasonably good place, but neither Redskin-friendly nor Redskin-hostile.
