I noticed on Redskins.com today that Mike Sellers, Nemo, and Manuel White are now listed as FB. Also, there is no HBs anymore.

ey is now listed as a TE.
Look for more 2 back sets in 2006...

i wouldnt be surprised if they are just calling cooley a TE and he still plays in a pseudo H back position in some formations.

Nice catch, portis26.
Tinco, I think it's probably something more fundamental than that. The position names are important with respect to the offensive philosophy.
Is this a statement? I think so... a quiet statement, but a statement none the less. My curiosity is definitely peaked.

This seems like big news to me. Visions of Lloyd, Moss, Randal El,

ey, and Portis in at the same time are dancing in my head.

Plus, "making"

ey a TE gives him more competition for the Probowl, but it does define what he is. He would have never made it as a fullback, unless Portis led the NFL in rushing. Normally the PB fullback is a bruising blocker and if you are not a good blocker (ie Alstot or Larry Centers) then you have to catch a lot of passes
AND run the ball from time to time. Lets face it I don't see

ey carring the ball very many times and while he is a good blocker he isn't great and the team goes to Sellers when they really need to bang some heads.

This is very exciting news. I always figured that

ey was going to move to more of a TE role with Saunders here. TG created a lot of problems for defenses and set up the rest of the team to thrive. With the weapons we have

ey wont have as big of a burden but he'll definately need to perform well in the role Saunders designates.
However, Id hate to see such a versatile/confusing role to opposing defenses fade away.

we will have so many weapons that cooley at the TE position wouuld be just as effective. He is going to have a mismatch no matter whose covering him. He is gong to see a lot of single coverages this year because of his offensive company.

Are the Redskins even going to be able to be stopped next season? We might have the best Redskins offense in like 15 years!

That's exactly what I was gonna say... now he cannot get snubbed by IMO a mediocore TE compared to him for the ProBowl. Also, I'm very excited to see how Coach Saunders uses him... I mean look at what he did for TG.

In the Saunders system, there is no H-Back. Moving

ey to the conventional TE position (i.e Gonzalez) is just the begining of GOOD things to come. Moving

ey is why there wasn't a bigger push in free agency for a front line TE. The skins already have one! I also see Betts being more involved in the running game, like L.J. Next season will be a special time in Redskin history. Bring on the fireworks.

this is al Sanders offense we run now. There is no h-back I believe. They do run two tight end sets but there is a full back now.

Are we sure that they weren't listed this way before?

The 2005 Media guide list

ey as Tight End/H-back.

I also heard where Robert Johnson said on Redskins.com TV that he and

ey will be used as TE's like Gonzalez was.
He mentioned that Gonzalez had 103 catches 2 years ago and they were placing bets on who would catch more balls.
My money is on

ey, but that quote shows that Saunders plans to use then on the LOS as TE's more than they were last year.

With all due respect to everyone involved, Betts is no Larry Johnson.

I'm curious to see what Betts can do when given the opportunity.
As far as Robert Johnson- 6'6 270lbs and runs a 4.6 40. Thats sick. I just hope he's got good hands to catch and block. Something interesting is he also went to Aubern.

I meant that Betts will be used as a change of pace for Portis a little more often and be involved also with the passing game. Much like L.J and Holmes. Screens/quick-outs/etc..
We all know LJ is a beast, but given the chance, Betts may show-out!
It looks to be an electrifying season

A beast last year, wearing diapers the year before!
