Rabach was doing fine, wasn't he? Is this because of Raymer's departure or just for a back up?

Well, KFFL.com lists him as a center, ESPN.com a tackle and NFL.com a guard. If nothing else, he's versatile.

Ohio State. Drafted in the 6th round by the Cowboys. Ended up with the Texans. Doesn't look like he played last year. ...and sued LeCharles Bentley a couple of years ago for hitting him in the face.
I'm sure the Gibbs era wouldn't sign this guy if they didn't believe in his abilities and his character...but....the article says his former coach called him a "cancer" on the team. ...the other article says he was prone for "off color" remarks.
Hopefully he's matured and ready to contribute.

Depth is more than one backup...(obviously).
The old story: in '91, Gibbs and Hanifan asked Russ Grimm to hang on one more season, in spite of Grimm's bad knees. He didn't start. In addition, they had gotten Mark Addickes, a former all-pro, also with bad knees, as a Plan-B free agent.
Opponents squealed: it's not fair! We knock one of the Hogs out of a game, and the Redskins bring in an all-pro to replace him.
Depth is good.

Don't you get it? We're going to use him as our very own test dummy. We'll get the cowboy out of him and make him an indian.

Did we give up on that Goodwin guy?
Anyway, these guys look like excellent reserve players.

I do not have a goof feeling about this guy. I do not expect him to make the roster at the beginning of the season.
But competition is good.

How can you NOT feel good about getting an Olineman from the Texans? David Carr thinks they're all great....but then again he could look up their skirts (if they wor 'em) with as much time as he spends on his back bahind them.

It wasn't his fault he was a backup. He played Center, Guard, and Tackle. You can't blame him if 3 guys came off the field and he was the only one to run on. The center always came off, but sometimes you see the L gaurd and R tackle come off too - other times it would the guard and tackle from the same side of the ball. Carr just never knew where the hole would be

If he doesn't make the squad then his cap money won't count against us...its a no-lose situation.

True. So, this is not a bad move and competition is good. I just hope we can find someone better.
