Tomorrow, March 20th, I turn 43. Naturally, on each birthday, "reflection" just comes naturally.

When I hit 30, it was easy. Part of growing up.

Hitting 40 was a lot tougher. Had me contemplating death much more, realizing the next step was "50".

At 43, I suppose the things I think about are:

* Am I doing what God intended me to do on this earth?
* Is my dad, who died when I was 6 months old, proud of me?
* Am I truly fully utilizing all of the gifts that have been bestowed upon me?
* Am I truly a good person or am I just "going through the motions" in my life?
* Is there some destiny out there for me that I just don't see yet.

I don't know if any of you ever think these types of thoughts, but these are things I think about as I get older. I suppose next year I'll think things like:

* Will my rates really never change with AARP?
* When will I actually be able to qualify for the senior citizen's discount?

Again, Jake, you have decades before you need start pondering about this stuff!

Ahh....to be young again.

OK turning 30 I can feel you on a little refection, Hitting 40 didn't make me comtemplate death - kind of amazed me that I'm still here after 4 decades but that's a;; the looking back that I did.

I;ll hit 43 this year also but I may miss the even I'll be having to much fun doing whatever it is I'll be doing.

Refections sre good every 10 years after 40 it drops to every 5 so I'm not rushing it.


Bit early but Happy Birthday

HB man. I am turning 28 this year. I just got married this past summer and have taken a long time to look and review my adulthood. I had though that I would have owned a house by now and though that I would have had kids already. But what can you do. I'm happy to be alive and happy to have the opportunity to waiste my life away on the computer late at night in the offseason of NFL football and talk with all you loser's. JK Happy Birthday and many more to come.

I'll let you know how it really feels to be old when I hit 50 on April 1, Justice. There's a whole lot of reflecting going on here....but not just because of the age...because of life's events in general...and looking for that light at the end of the tunnel before I leave this earth.

I think about a few of the things you mentioned.

Part of me doesn't worry too much because I feel like I have a lot of time.
Another part of me reallys wants to progress and overcome personal issues but sometimes I feel like I dont know where to start and I just end up sitting in neutral.
I think neutral really describes 2005 for me and Ive let it seep into 2006 but with the curveballs that have been thrown at me for the past 2 months Ive gotten a wake up call...
Hopefully it'll just be a wake up call and not the potential disaster it could be.

I think that life is full of curveballs and its all about how you deal with them. Its kind of a make or break situation. I know that for me, i learned the most about myself when life really was bad and that made me a better person today. It will all work out. The main thing is to have faith in yourself.

I turn 30 in August and while I used to see it as something to be dreaded, it's not quite as significant as it once was, I've not yet accomplished what I want to but I still have time.

Here's the funny part. My girlfriend asked me where I'd like her to take me for dinner. I said "Hibachi", one of my favorite places to go.

So, she picks me up around 6:30 p.m. and we head there to eat. The bill came and because we were seated before 6:45 p.m., we got the EARLY BIRD SPECIAL prices.

Yep! It's beginning! I'm getting so old, I'm now eating during the EARLY BIRD SPECIAL! lol!!!

Or could it be the senior citizen's discount ??? Hmmmmmmmmm....

I wouldn't call it that. Each year, at my birthday, I just evaluate where I've been, where I'm going, and stuff like that.

When I have my mid-life crisis, I'll probably sell my truck and my Harley and buy a Corvette or something like that.
