Defensive Backs

Looks like we've loaded up pretty well in free agency. Based on who has been brought in so far and considering areas that we could still upgrade, I believe we might go after a defensive back with our 2nd round pick. Mel Kiper said the draft was deep with prospects at the db position.

Do you guys know who might be available or who could be a good fit for us at this position? I know we could go another way with this pick but I am not that familiar with 2006 class of defensive backs or corners and wanted some insight. Thanks.

You can never have enough good corners...and I'd be happy if we drafted a corner on the first day of every draft....but I'd rather see us pick up a couple of linemen at this point....If we do go DB I'd like to see us get a real CB not a safety. Not having a third this year hurts us but Lloyd is a better talent than we were likely to get in the third anyway.

BTW, there are a few guys with first round talent that could slip to us at 52.

My guess is we will take a CB in the 2nd and use our day to picks to add depth at OL and LB.

It has been a while since I was able to say this but. I dont see many holes on the defense maybe another corner. Id rather have us get Manny Lawson in the second round. I know we picked up a D end hybrid linebacker already but I say might as well make a good Defense a great one maybe even legendary lets load up really load up. The addition of Lawson or another stud D end might start something really special. I am trying to envision 85 Bears only with Redskins uniforms on. If we get Lawson then I would spend the rest of the day going for a corner and some depth on the Oline.

DB, DE, and OT would all be good in the 2nd round if a quality guy has slipped. Just to think outside the box for a minute though. What if a guy like Maurice Drew (RB-UCLA) is still available. Rock and Ladell are ok, but if Portis gets hurt, our season could be done. I think it might be wise to get a quality runner who could fill in for 2-3 game injury stretch without losing much. Just a thought.

The Skins are pretty set at running back I think. IF Portis went down Betts is a good enough starter for a couple games. That and they've been grooming Broughton. That's 4 decent backs total, plus Sellers if necessary. We're far worse at DB where we have two good starters and Ade.

We kind of already have Devin Hester, except he is a good receiver and not a bad cornerback.

After signing Carter and Randle El and Archuleta and all that good stuff, I think our new priority in the draft is...

2nd Round) CB or LB (whichever is better at 53) For example, lets say Ohio State's Ashton Youboty is there at 53, then I say we take him.
But if Demeco Ryan's is there at 53, then we take him. Feel my drift?

4th Round) CB/LB/TE (Either whoever we didn't take at 53 (CB or LB) unless there is a stud TE like Dominyque Byrd or someone.

5th Round) (we have one right???) OL/DL depth. Since this guy probably won't be starting anytime soon, we might as well take the best available player at either position.

6th Round) any depth position

6th Round) mor depth

7th Round) I say in the 7th we just go for the the biggest sleeper out there who has the chance to be a Tom Brady.

I agree whichever is better, but Youboty is 1st round not going to be there. I like Cedric Griffin from Texas or Jason Allen for Tennessee,or AJ Nicholson or D'Qwell. But I wish Cromartie fall, but i he wont after the show he had on pro-day.
