Best Free Agent Pick Up Thus Far

Don't look now, but the Skins have been pretty active in free agency thus far. We've added a lot of players already via free agent signing or trade. We've never seen that before have we? :-"

Who do you think our best pick up is thus far?

I think ARE gives us a new dimension to the offense -- he's a great ST guy, a really good WR, and can make the difference in a gadget play. Great pickup, overall.

Purely WR? Llyod

Utility guy? ARE

Id have to give ARE the nod but if both were ONLY WR's and had no other skills....Id lean towards Lloyd.

When the dust settles it will Lloyd. Trust me.

Lloyd isn't really a free agent "signing"...

Anyway, I picked Carter, I think he is the best addition. Some people are down on him because of his numbers last year but he was playing LB then. I'm sure he'll play DE with us, and Gregg Williams will utilize his skills properly.

Carter is going to be a beast next season... Pro Bowler, mark my words.

Gotta be ARE, his impact on both the offense and special teams is unmatched by the other FAs (all of whom I am of course happy to welcome)

Why do you have signing in quotes? I suppose you really meant to put the quotes around free agent. At any rate, Lloyd was a free agent, but instead of just signing him and having to give a first-round pick (which we don't have), we traded and gave up some lower picks. So, really, the effect is the same.

Rock Cartwright. His signing sends a message to the others on the team that hard work and perseverance is held in high regard by this staff. His signing establishes a precedent unseen around here for many years. We're farming our own stars!!!!

I think Carter. Passrush was the one thing our defense lacked; and I think he'll provide it, in spades.

I really can't complain about a single signing, however. I like them all.

It's really hard to tell right now because all signings bring positive dimensions to both sides of the ball and none of them have played in 06 yet.

But if Carter plays to his potential and Archuleta plays at the top of his game then I think they may be the most important because it will mean a renewed pass-rush.

We needed a second receiver even worse than we needed a pass rush last year  I'm going with ARE.

In terms of overall impact - ARE. but all the signings (even Rock) will have a great impact next this coming season.

I gotta agree with you guys about Brandon Lloyd. I LOVE this move.

Lloyd - Walking Highlight Reel

Lloyd has amazing skills and will be surrounded by infinitely better talent and coaching than in SF. His upside for improvement is much greater than Randle El's who was on a well coached and well balanced team. Lloyd had to deal with bad coaches and poor surrounding talent yet still excelled in double coverage. His highlight film was only made possible because the ball wasn't where it should have been. As a result, he had to dive, reach, or jump to get every ball. His jumping skills are obsene! When the ball is actually thrown to him he can use that athletic ability to new levels. In essence, he got open by breaking the laws of physics.

In an offense overloaded with talent and hall of fame coaches this guy is going to be a superstar!

No idea who our best pick-up is so far. I'll tell you after next season.

I can get excited about Lloyd, Randle El and Carter. Fauria is a good signing. Cartwright is a great signing - I agree with Redeemed on this one.

Archuleta is the one I'm a little bothered about. It's a lot of money, and I'm sure that Sean Taylor has noticed that. There is a chance that this might cause some problems down the line, and I'm really not sure that Archuleta is that good.

I love ARE and Lloyd. They're both going to be great. I personally think the safety position was a little bit more serious. With RClark most likely gone and ST's thing going on....getting Archuleta was very smart. We're lacking a CB right now...and in case we can't fill in that hole...at least we'll have possibly two great safeties in the backfield to create some havoc.

I agree with you there. It was a much more pressing need last year but we've needed a pass-rushing defensive end longer than a #2 receiver.

The #2 receiver issue didn't really come back to bite us until last year.
