Murder Indictment of Bouncer Sought in Student's Killing
By CHRISTINE HAUSER

Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly said this afternoon that New York City authorities had identified a bar bouncer as the prime suspect in the killing of a graduate student and would seek to indict him for murder.

The suspect, Darryl Littlejohn, is in custody on Rikers island for violation of parole and has not yet been arrested for the slaying.

Mr. Kelly said at a televised news conference that blood that matched Mr. Littlejohn's DNA had been found on the plastic ties that were used to bind the hands of the student, Imette St. Guillen, behind her back.

The Brooklyn district attorney will put together a grand jury to make the final determination on charges, Mr. Kelly said, adding that more forensic work needed to be done.

He also said he expected other evidence to be presented, although he did not give details.

"There are still aspects of this case that we are developing," he said.

The police were able to tell from Mr. Littlejohn's cellphone records that he had been in the immediate vicinity of the place where the body was found and also at a route to that location.

Mr. Kelly said that the investigators were looking into other crimes that might have involved Mr. Littlejohn.

Asked if Mr. Littlejohn had acted alone, Mr. Kelly said he was the prime suspect.

"There is still a lot of investigation to be done on this case," he said later.

Mr. Littlejohn is a bouncer at the Falls, a SoHo bar where Ms. St. Guillen was last seen on Feb. 25. Her body had been found about two weeks ago wrapped in a blanket and dumped at a desolate spot near the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn.

Ms. St. Guillen had gone out with friends on the night of Feb. 24, drinking past midnight at another SoHo bar, the Pioneer. But when a friend she was with decided to go home, Ms. St. Guillen went on alone to the Falls.

Witnesses have told police that Mr. Littlejohn had been asked to show Ms. St. Guillen out of the bar about 4 a.m. because it was closing

The Falls is the Manhattan bar where Redskin fans gather... only Redskin games on the TV's. Have we met this guy?

Thanks for posting this, welch. I saw this report last week. After looking at the mug shot of the suspect, I think I walked past him the first time I went to The Falls to watch the Skins-Broncos game. My wife couldn't believe the story when I told her about the murder.

...and this week, the NYPD locked The Falls -- our New York City all-Redskins Sunday sports bar.

Complaints were:

- crimes, meaning mostly noise, outside bar

- crimes, such as underage drinking, inside the bar.

A neighborhood group had been pressing to close The Falls for months. The Imette murder gave them "oomph" with the press and the local precinct.

I don't know about their ordinary business, but on Sunday afternoons (except when the Skins played the Giants and got on local TV) during football season, the place was jammed with fine people. Most of them wearing burgandy and gold.

Incidentally, that probably knocks off the New York entry on the THN list of best places to see Redskin games if you live outside the DC area.

Dorrian's

Address:
1616 2nd Avenue (Corner Of 84th St. & 2nd Ave.)

Telephone:
(212) 772-6660

For those of you that caught some Redskins games at The Falls last year you know how awesome it was to walk into a packed bar full of Skins fans singing the fight song. As You know, the Falls is closed. Since the owners of The Falls also own a bar called Dorrians, I figured that we would have a better chance on converting Dorrian's into a Redskins bar. I've contacted the manager of Dorrians and he wants to carry on the tradition and turn Dorrian's into The NYC Redskins Bar. It's going to be the exact same set up. Hi-Def projector, plasma tv's, deals on food/beer, and most importantly SOUND!

Wow, that's really close to where I used to live. The Lexington Ave. (green) line has a stop at 86th street, too. Very Convenient!

The manager of Dorrian's is Keith in case you all have any questions. I'm hoping we can get the same crowd of skins fans together again this year. Last year was awesome.

It was indeed.

So Dorrian's is the place.

Just an FYI.... I would say that we have a new home. I wonder how many Giants fans they're turning away by putting this on their website?
