UPDATE: Redskins sign Christian Fauria, according to
Forbes:
The Redskins also signed tight end Christian Fauria, giving coach Joe Gibbs three new weapons for an offense that struggled in the playoffs.
Fauria will replace tight end Robert Royal, who signed as a free agent Saturday with Buffalo. Fauria spent the last four years with New England, winning two Super Bowl rings. He started 10 of 16 games last year, catching eight passes for 57 yards and two touchdowns.

I didn't realize that a discussion of Antwaan Randle El should include Christian Fauria.
Anyway, Fauria seems to be an ideal candadite to replace Royal. He's a good blocker with steady hands - and hopefully will come cheap.

There are so many WR threads of course they'll talk about the TEs in those threads (what are you thinging).
I was about to start the same thread but saw this one.
I think Fauria is a upgrade over RR but would like to see Johnson get a look also.

If all of this is true, Floyd, Randle El, Fauria,

ey and Moss will be one of the most formidable receiving corps in the NFL. Yeeeeehhhhhhaaaaaa!!!!!

mmm... this is a little unnecessary. Mike sellers and chris cooley are more than capable te/h-backs. Too much money is being spent on the offensive side of the ball right now. If i were gregg williams right now i'd be a little perturbed.

I'm just waiting for some signings on the o-line and Defense...maybe Joe's hoping that the Defense never sees the field!

We did sign Jonta Woodward (6'5'' and 330 lbs with light feet) as an Offensive lineman. Also, I wonder if they could Jesse Lumsden (6'3", 230 pounds, 4.4 seconds in the 40-yard dash) as a tight end or H-back. Any thoughts on these Canadians mixing into the fold now?

Washington also signed tight end Christian Fauria on Sunday. Fauria, 34, has spent the last four seasons with the New England Patriots, where he won two Super Bowl titles.

If i were gregg williams right now i'd be a little perturbed.
Why? Didn't he get his way with 2 top ten draft picks in the last two drafts?
Gregg Williams is fine with this, I guarantee it. I'm sure he was getting a little tired of the kind of pressure our offense has placed on our defense. Now, perhaps, the O can do more of it's share. This is actually very good for the defense.

I Think countertrey could be correct in his opinion. If the defense isn't on the field, don't really need that many changes to the defense. Would be nice to get a lil better pressure on the qb though. If we could ever get a good lead that is when Greg Williams defense will shine at it's best. Be able to blitz and take more chances.

As a coach and GM u adress ur weaknesses, Te and Wr were r biggest weakness. Before u get depth u have to make sure u have good starters. We did that now with the recieving core and TE. Now I think he is going to adress the D (which will be replacing Lavar, DE, and SS (Ryan Clark was good, but he i a free agent so ethier we need to resign him or sign someone else) and O-line depth. If Ryan Clark was under contract I wouldn't put SS. I would rather be balanced with our starters than deep at one position and crappy at another.

I love this signing. Didn't really expect it, though.
I never heard his name as a player of interest and I thought we would go for a younger tight end but Gibbs does love his veterans.

It really seems like they want to give Cambell the ball next year by all these signings. I think they will use the draft for our defense.

I like how we are signing guys with a bunch of playoff experience. First Randle-El now this guy.

I do recall 2 playoff games where GW defence stopped pretty much everything that came their way and on offence that became one dimentional and barely moved the ball. these signings are what we need, speedy reciever's that can stretch the field and open things up for CP, Fauria is just a TE that can actully catch the ball on a regular basis.
