I'm amazed that we were able to sign el, but does anybody know how much more cap we have to sign Andre Carter or even upcomming draftees?

I can't say that Im very happy about all of the signings...
2 new WR's is great but did we NEED two? I dont think we needed two, especially with the other holes YET to be filled.
How much are each of these guys getting?
Santana - good money
Llyod- Is going to what a fat check
Randle - Is going to want a fat chack
Patten - Is getting some good money....
How often do we run a 3 WR set? Maybe it will increase this year.

I'm guessin we're going to cut David Patten and Taylor Jacobs, or one of them and Jimmy Farris. Does anyone know how much cap room they take up?

Well last year... for most of the year... it looked like we had one receiver. Adding two gives us three by my math. There's no way that's TOO many. Patten will hopefully stay healthy and give us four. I think 4 good roster slots to wide receivers is a very healthy number to go into the season with.
Maybe actually having to fight for a spot with Thrash will bring something more than turf toe out of Jacobs... otherwise, he's outta here and Thrash gets the fifth spot because of his ST abilities.
I definitely don't see this as too many receivers ESPECIALLY when one of them could see return duties on kickoffs and punts. That adds wear, and it also adds to the posssibility of injury... really all we've done is given ourselves the depth to operate properly... where if one guy gets hurt, you drop off but not substantially... if two guys get hurt... you can still get by.
It's a little early to ring the panic bell about other needs isn't it? it's March... there's a draft coming up, a june 1st cut date... and 6 full months before a game. I think if all we have left to address between now and then is a pass rusher, some secondary help and some depth positions... then we're in pretty good shape.

Sorry on cap issues... cutting Patten isn't very practical... he's early on in a fairly big contract and would cost more to cut (about 600K more).
Cutting Farris will save about 460K
Cutting Antonio Brown will save 460K
Cutting Thrash would save 875K
Cutting Jacobs would only save 117K

See, I don't think three good WR's is too many, considering Randle El only played in like 1/2 of Pittsburgs plays.
The thing that worries me is the Money these 3 WR's are getting.
Moss is worth it, and while Lloyd and Randle El are booth good WR's, knowing us we'll probably over pay them (like giving Lloyd 10 Million in Bonuses (if that's really true))
So I don't know, as long as we can still fill our holes at CB, S, OLine, DE... then I'll be bouncing off the walls.

Washington and Randle El's agent, Fletcher Smith of CSMG Sports, finalized a seven-year contract worth $31 million that includes $11.5 million in bonuses. The deal is voidable after the sixth year.
See, now
that is too much. Sure he is very versatille, but still... 30 Million Bucks (and 11 Mil. in bonuses)
Ugh, I really don't want to see how much Lloyds going to get.

No way man! their not going to sit him on the bench for 3 years, then what was the point of drafting him. He will start this year or come in the very first time Brunell breaks a finger nail.

Cambell will play next year. There is no way 40 year old Mark makes it through a whole year healthy. Soory to sound like the glass half empty guy, but the odds are Mark will not make it through without missing several games.
Of course if Jason plays well that isn't a bad thing!

Well maybe, but there are a bunch of us here that are thinking he might play some
this year. It seems like Gibbs is indicating he (Campbell) may be a lot more ready than you think. I think that if Gibbs is allowing Ramsey to go it might be motivated by Campbell looking like he's ready (to Gibbs) and Gibbs must have someone else in mind as well. We are not going to be with just Cambell and Brunell for very long. Our QBs need to start working with the new guys and soon.

I hate when people get into the whole this weekend or next weekend argument. They both can be the same thing.
I ment this very next season. Since the season isn't here it is the next season. THIS season is the OFF SEASON! If I had ment the season after next (as in the 2007 season) I would have said the season after next, not next season.

I think Patten will be cut after this year, or really resturctured.

Brunell had the arm to take full advantage of this slate of WRs - but not now and not for an entire season.
We gotta get JC in there, sooner rather than later.
I'm thinking that JC starts and Brunell is #2 with a yet to be named #3 that doesn't know the system (with one exception). That way we get Brunell's tutoring of JC and #3 and still be ready to step in in a pinch.
Brunell being at the back end of his career just can't take a licking and keep on ticking like a younger QB. If he get hurt early, it will take him a lot longer to recuperate. We be left with JC and the #3. With JC starting, he will learn quickly and make his mistakes while there is still time to recover that way he'll be ready for post season. He'll takes licks that would put Brunell out of commission - but he'll shake it off keep on going ... yet if we need Brunell later in the season when things are more critical, Brunell will be ready and fresher than if he player all season. But then there is still the issue if he'll be able to fully utilize the WRs. But by then, we'll have established ourselves and everyone will have to respect the long, middle and short threats as well as the run.

You guys have it all wrong...our starting QB will be Randle - El, and Portis will be QB on 3rd down.
