Dont know if this has been posted or not so my apologies ahead of time if it has. It looks like we might getting Carter to be Lavar's replacement at OLB and not as a DE. Either way if he stays healthy he is a beast. Got this quote from SI.
"Carter would be a natural replacement for Arrington at linebacker. The Redskins want to generate more of a pass rush, and Carter has 32 sacks over his five-year career with San Francisco. He had 12½ in 2002 but only 6½ over his last two years."
If we get Carter with intentions to use him as a LB, I wonder if we go for a big time DE or just promote from within.(Clemons) We also still have Wynn and Daniels. I would like us to get a DE who rushes the passer more too but Im not looking to break the bank for one.I'll be fine with spending money on the other side of the ball and keeping Wynn and Daniels as our starters. Thoughts????

I would prefer Carter as a DE, but he works as a OLB.

Carter is a fast under sized DE. He is a better DE than OLB BY FAR

I want Carter to play DE too I think, but he was making strides as an OLB, he could end up very good there with more work. At least, that's what it sounds like in his scouting report on insider.

He's the perfect fit. If we sign him we kill two birds with one stone. He can be that pass rushing 4-3 DE that we so desperately require AND play LaVar's old WLB position in 3-4 packages!

I have no idea who this guy is! In his five seasons he has never intercepted a pass and the most tackle he has ever made in a season was 45. So he doesn't make many tackels and he is a liability in the passing game. He had 12.5 sacks in 2002 which is good, but only 13 total in the 3 years since. That isn't bad, but I hope we don't pay a lot for this guy!

He played defensive end up until last year, those guys don't intercept a lot of passes...
Also, he racks up a lot of sacks, and his tackle numbers are very good for a DE (he played in a 3-4 as a tweener for the 9ers, so obviously he would be getting less total tackles.)
About 3 seconds of research would have yielded this information... just saying

I am really hopeful we can sign Carter.
Carter is a talented defensive end with great potential and is still very young. The dude is in great shape, too.

This next one looks pretty gay,

Not only he is super versatile at DE/OLB, but as Jake pointed out, he's young.
Last year was only his 5th in the NFL.
I really really really would like to sign him.

The gay talk continues with my question: could you imagine him and McCune in a weightlifting contest? Good God.

300? More like 4-5 hundred...those guys lift 300 like it's nothin. This dude looks like one of the people from that old show American Gladiators.

Yeah, guys on my school's Division 2 team can bench 300...
Carter could probably lift the back of a car off the ground.

You are right he did play DE until last year and DE do not intercept many passes, but during his four years at DE he was middle of the road for tackles and 65 passes were intercepted by DEs. During his one year at OLB 63 passes were intercepted by LBs and he ranked 110th in the league in tackles for LBs, oh yeah, and 4th on his team for LBs. Lets see, in a 3/4 that means he was their most ineffective starting LB at making tackels. So I did that 2 minutes of research, maybe you should have followed your own advice!
He does show that he can get to the QB but he is by no means anywhere near even a fringe probowl player at either DE or LB. I think that he is a solid player that may thrive in GWs system, but he should not be paid as high level player.

ARE would be nice but if we don't get him, hit won't be a big deal. We've got a #1 Wideout and Lloyd has been signed to be/compete for the #2 spot. ARE would be a nice #3 but there are others that can fill that role. He would make a nice KR/Return man.
Carter should be the focus if he is coming in to play end. If he is being sought as a LB than I feel the same about him as I do about ARE

Carter would be a natural replacement for departed linebacker LaVar Arrington. The Redskins want to generate more of a pass rush, and Carter has 32 sacks over his five-year career with San Francisco. He had 12 1/2 in 2002 but only 6 1/2 over his last two years.
