ESPN.com's John Clayton reports Carolina Panthers RB DeShaun Foster agreed to a three-year, $14.5 million contract Friday night, March 10, that includes a $4.5 million signing bonus. The $14.5 million could end up being worth another $3 million based on escalators and incentives.
Alstott late Friday night agreed to a one-year contract that will pay him $1.5 million to $2 million for 2006. The 10-year veteran would have been eligible for unrestricted free agency at midnight, but had indicated that, if he decided to continue his career, it would be with the Bucs, the only franchise for which he has played

Bummer, I've heard lots of good props around him recently and he might have been a good pick up.

The first weird free-agency report of the night came from Cleveland, when the team's Web site reportedly signed Patriots wide receiver David Givens and Ravens punter Dave Zastudil. The only problem was it wasn't true. Givens' agent, Brad Blank, has his client on a 7 a.m. flight to Miami to visit the Dolphins, and he almost didn't send Givens to Cleveland because of the erroneous report. Blank theorized that someone hacked into the Browns' computer, but he emphasized that no deal is done. Givens is scheduled to visit the Browns on Sunday if he doesn't sign with the Dolphins on Saturday.

Panthers agree to terms with free agent DT Ma'ake Kemoeatu (Ravens). The 6-foot-5, 350-pounder agreed in principle to a five-year, $23 million deal.
I watch quite a bit of football and I can honestly say, this guy was not on my list of must get DL -- is he worth $4.5 mil a year for 5 years or is there a real shortage of DL this year?
On another note -- why would the Panthers need another DL? They have Jenkins, Peppers, Buckner, & Rucker.
On another note -- can you imagine this guy celebrating tonight? 350 lbs...bet he'll be doing some serious eating! I pity the poor guy who owns the closest buffet!

Just because Dan wanted him doesn't make him worth $4.5 mil, does it?

The Browns are spending money, suddenly.
Did they have to ? They'll be getting guys back from IR, and the division isn't what it used to be.

You're the ones done screwed up the market, remember?
It was a good signing, may be a little much, but it's still on the cheap and he fills a void that killed the team last year; OL depth. I like the move.
Where's the love for Akin Ayodele?
Vinatieri's on his way
