And with the possibility of Archuleta and Pickett both ending up elsewhere, they could need a strong safety and a defensive tackle as well. Archuleta could have one foot out the door already. He's expected to draw strong interest from Washington, and perhaps Cincinnati, at the start of the free agency period.

What makes them think that?

Just because Ryan Clark is a FA, doesn't mean he's out the door, especialy when he said he would stay for decent money.

I love it lets get him, and keep Clark because we use a lot of different packages.

I love Ryan Clark, but I am also a big fan of AA...

Anyway, the mediots out there always think that Washington will make a play for EVERY free agent.

I think they're about 3 years behind the times.

AA is a anomaly. I swear, I've seen him take some angles that I'm sure are gonna wind up with him on his butt...then he recovers and kills people.
I'd chip in for a guy like that.

"I'm a realist," Clark said. "I understand my place in this league. Some people look at my size [officially 5-foot-11, 200] and think I don't belong. I fit this defense. I can't play three yards off the line everywhere. And I haven't forgotten that the Redskins gave me an opportunity when no one else would (after he was cut by the New York Giants in July 2004). I don't want to leave here for a few thousand dollars more and be unhappy. Whatever money I'll make will be more than I've ever earned in my life."

I'm a realist as well. I know that Archuleta would have a better chance against a guy like Tomlinson than Ryan does. Clark has heart but some times that just doesen't get it done. Witness that repeating highlight on NFL Network showing Clark getting STIFF ARMED IN THE FACE ALL THE WAY TO THE GROUND by Tomlinson.

If we could get Archuleta it would be a great move for us. He would have to pay off Rock for that #31.

Well, if we could afford Archuleta, then I'm sure we could afford Clark, and I'd rather have Clark.

instead of replacing Clark, maybe we need him to replace Sean Taylor?

Why wouldn't the Rams resign Archuleta? He has been the best player on that sorry defense for several years.

I would love to see a secondary of Rogers, Springs, Taylor, and Archuleta next season. However, I do admire the way Ryan Clark plays the game.

my buddy who plays for the lions, works out with arch down in phoenix in the off-season. he said arch was talking about a conversation he had with greg williams on the phone about heading to washington. it sounds like a very real possibility to me.

Is your buddy Kyle Kosier?

no guy, its levar woods. he played 4 years in 'zona and then played the last 6 games for the lions last year, starting the last three. he told me arch sounded pretty excited after talking to williams and was calling guys who play/have played for williams to see if he thought he would fit in out there in that defense. it sounded like if the cba deal got done the skins were going to offer him a pretty hefty contract.

I'll take Ryan Clark. He's been here and played pretty good. Now that doesn't mean that there is room for improvement on pass coverage but I don't see us making an upgrade between the two. As AA gets older, those big hits turn into injuries and we don't need that. Not to mention, I'd rather sign Clark who's been in the system for 2 years and will come at a cheaper price. Lets put that money to a #2 receiver and a D-End. Not to mention we are going to need to add some depth with all the cuts.

i agree. arch, in my mind, is a pumped up a little more than he should be. he will be alot more expensive than clark, but you guys know snyder. he purges the roster yearly with higher priced talent. that is why the skins never win when it counts. too many new players and new money. i would stick with the d you guys have and roll with it. it was a turnover machine the second half of the season.

I agree. We might need to add depth, but we don't want to spend too much money on a postion that's not on the top of our MUST needs. We need to use most of the money we have on a #2 WR, a DE, and maybe a TE or a proven FB maybe. Ryan Clark has played pretty well, i think and maybe it's just me but i saw a couple BIG hits from him too...

I don't think that Gregg Williams

A- Is contacting free agents by himself

B- Is engaging in illegal tampering

Adam Archuletta is a BAMF but we're not going to break the rules for him.

sure,
A- clinton never puffed down, nor got head in the oval office,
B- bonds never took roids, and
C- it was really was a "wardrobe malfunction" janet had during the SB halftime a couple years back.

"Even the cap-strapped Washington Redskins had revved the engines to owner Dan Snyder's private jet, and were set to ferry in St. Louis strong safety Adam Archuleta for a first-day visit."

I swear we better not let go of Clark. That would infuriate me to no extent.

Yeah, I love Clark... but adding Archuleta to a rotation would be sweet.
