Starting Guard Dockery Signs Redskins' Qualifying Offer

Monday, March 6, 2006; Page E09

Washington Redskins guard Derrick Dockery signed a qualifying offer from the team, he said, making him a restricted free agent and giving Washington the right to match any offer made to him.

Dockery, who made strides last season, was drafted in the third round in 2003, and said he hopes to stay with the organization for the long term.

"I want to stay here," Dockery said. "I love this city, I love this team and I like the direction we're headed in. This is where I want to spend my career."

Should Dockery sign elsewhere, which appears unlikely, the Redskins would receive draft pick compensation.

I'm glad someone wants to stay in D.C. but I honestly wouldn't have shed a tear if he didn't sign.

Well, that's nice.
All we need him to do now is continue to show progress.

HAHHAHAHHA.

He signed the tender; it's not like he was waiting for other offers.
He needs to remain and become a part of this line long term, as either a starter or a backup depending on how he plays.
They need to offer him a multi year deal during the season to wrap him up for multiple years. You can hate on him, but he was a major part of the line's success.
I think people like having someone to hate. Couple years ago, it was Ade Jimoh

LOL, yeah I choose people to randomly not care for for the fun of it. Jimoh got his due when he picked his game up and so will Dockery. Its not so much that Dockey sucks imo but that he's performing below his ability.

I thought if you signed your qualifying offer that ment you normally are signed for one more year. The Post is reporting that makes Double D a restricted free agent - I think they're wrong! AGAIN!

The tendered offer allows the Skins to match any offer that DD is given. A tender and a contract are 2 different things.
He still doesn't have a contract.
This time the Post got it right
