Earlier in the off season before everyone was worried about the CBA, people were talking like Lavar was going to be cut, and it was almost certain. Why is it that it looks like we will keep him now. I hope we do keep him, he is one of my favorite players, but what does everyone else think.

I know he said something about restructuring his contract, so maybe he is one of the guys that Gibbs is referring to as being leaders and doing whats best for the team.
just wondering whats going to happen to him if anyone can help

I've been hearing that because of the way his contract is currently structured, cutting him would actually NOT save a lot of money on the cap, so it is very likely that he may stay with the Skins for next season, I think.

I believe it's because if we cut him he'll actually cost more against the cap than if we keep him.

I hope he can put his ill-will aside (from his previous negotiations) and restructure.

According to John Clayton, cutting LA would only save the Skins $120,000 against the cap. If that's correct, keeping him is a no brainer.

That is a 120k charge not savings.

The reason you were hearing cuts were for the June cuts not these. If there were a new CBA put in then the june cuts would be spread over two years and not take the whole chunk out of the cap this one time. When they were talking about cutting him almost no one would have thought that the CBA wouldn't have been a done deal by now.

plus you have to sign someone to replace him. Even at minimum salery thats like another 250 K or something. So with that the cost of cutting him would escalate to about a 370 K charge.
