Skins Needs and Likely Solutions

WR: Very weak in this draft. Skins likely to get one in FA

CB: If Harris is cut then could be our first pick in Round 2. Possibilities are Youboty or Cromartie. Both are big and good tacklers.

DE: Reasonably deep in the draft. Likely candidates are Edwards, Adeyanju, Anderson or McGlover

OG/C: Relatively deep in this draft. Skins likely to draft a OG or a versatile C/OG in the 3rd of 4th round. Possible candidates are Joseph, Eslinger, Lutui, Sims or Spencer

TE: A deep class this year. Possible candidates are Byrd, Fasano, Klopfenstein, Scheffler or Mix.

I like the ideal of getting Cromartie, I've said his name before he could be a steal in the second round. Third round
I like a TE and DE, if we can get a addition pick for PAT RAM.

I would really like taking a CB with our 2nd round pick.
Springs is not getting any youner and there isn't another CB other then Rogers who should be starting.

is that the mix from auburn?

if it is, that guy was burning it up in the senior bowl, and if we can get him for jason to throw to, that's just another great weapon that we can utilize to its full potential./

Cromartie in the 3rd round would be a gem. His talents at one on one coverage in college were second to none. Wouls make a nice One-Two punch with Rogers.

Maybe a weakside LB?

Weakside LB: Addressed through current depth for short term, draft someone if needed who can wait in the wings.

DE: That dude from the Jets would be cool, instant gratification. I wouldn't mind getting a young guy via the draft with some handy work via the draft.

CB: I want a rookie from the draft. Young guy who needs a bit of work but has serious upside. Springs would teach him the way.

WR: Id like to get a veteran but a young rookie wouldn't hurt either.

I think TE is our #1 need because I think a rookie could come in and potentially start depending on what our offense looks like. Fasano or Byrd would be a great 2nd round selection given there ability catch and BLOCK.

Well with the cuts today, here is how I would like to see our picks go (prior FA)

2nd= TE/WR- I think with the talent of TE available at 53, a TE might be a better weapon than a WR at 53. Like Marcedes Lewis or Dominque Byrd.

3rd= OG (depth/maybe starter?)

4th= DB/CB

5th= DE: Now I know this is late, but unless a dominant DE is there at 53 (aka Tapp or Lawson) I say we wait until later in the draft, and just get someone with potential. He won't have to start until at least next year, and if he's strong and has a motor, he could be a great pickup/steal

6th= Punter

7th= O Line depth

I like it...only one change:

Instead of a WR in the 2nd round I'd go OLB and get a FA WR. We've picked too many WRs early in the draft that did NOT work out. There certainly isn't enough space on this board for me to list them all.

Yeah, actually I like that, assuming some of the top LB's are still there.

Maybe we could get lucky, and Bobby Carpenter(Ohio St), Demeco Ryans (Alabama), or maybe even Ernie Sims(Florida St). If those guys are there at 53, then yes I think OLB would be a great pick.

Or even, we could go for MLB (Abdul Hodge or DQwell Jackson) and then shift Lemar back to OLB...

So yes, fredp45, OLB might just be a great pick since there are so many good players this year.

Man, did this turn out to be true.

TE would be nice in order to free up Cooley as an H-back and provide some athleticism at the position. With Royal in there, I felt we were giving up a position when you consider the defense usually had an athletic, blitzing LB as opposed to our stay at home blocking TE.

That said, I feel adding youth and depth to the O-line is more important. You don't make it through the season with 5 O-linemen, so we really need someone who can start some games next year as a backup.

MLB. Lemar will be better if he could move back to the weak-side where his quickness and undersized frame are not as much a liability. Of course, G. Williams seems to prefer taking young, no name, special teams LB's and molding them into starters, so his draft list might not include LB's in the 2nd or 3rd round.

How about a kicker? I wouldn't mind a 3rd round kicker after seeing the skins juggle replacement kickers during each of the past few seasons.

With the signings of the 2 FA OL and the movement of Cooley to TE it now appears the Skins will now focus on the draft. My hunch is the Skins will take a CB with their first pick in Round 2 and a OLB and OL in the later rounds. I would expect them to trade some of their later picks to get a pick in Round 3.

I agree with you except for the trade scenario. I dont see the skins trying to move into round 3, but you never know. I think CB with the round two pick is needed, and find LB and OL depth in the remaining rounds
