Sam Huff next on the chopping block?

Not directly related to Redskins football, so I thought The Lounge was the place for it:

I didn't understand why Herzog was replaced. However, there were a number of times last season when I thought Sam's mind was less than razer sharp (perhaps it never was?). Sonny seemed to have to correct him a lot of times. I haven't listened to Frank, Sonny and Sam as much as a lot of you guys - has Sam always been this way, or is he losing it?

Seems a crime to even suggest replacing him, but I love the idea of Riggo being up in the booth. Don't think it'll ever happen though.

It's close enough, UK Skins Fan ;)

As for Sam being replaced. That would be pretty sad, but maybe not as sad as it was to lose Frank. Sam did make quite a few mistakes this past year, and his interaction with Sonny et. al. was somewhat less fun to listen to.

Not that I'd support him being cut, but since the trio is already broken up it wouldn't surprise me at all to see it.

Its getting to be about time for some new blood. I would LOVE to get Riggo in the booth at some point.

Riggo does games for Westwood One (which are syndicated to various local stations as well as on Sirius). Would he really leave a national audience to come to Redskins Radio?

Sam Huff should NOT go anywhere...he and Sonny are a fixture in the Redskin family...it was a sad and tragic day when the news broke that Frank was not coming back..you see in today's generation, some of you guys have no clue what Sonny, Sam and Frank meant to many, many people...throughout the 80's and 90's the trio was on many peoples radio's and the tv was on mute..Sonny, Sam and Frank made themselves into peoples homes on Sundays and in many families it is a tradition to listen to the trio..especially my grandparents listened to every single Sonny, Sam and Frank broadcast...even when my grandmother was on her deathbed with cancer, she DEMANDED that a radio be in her hospital room to listen to the trio on Sunday's all the way until the day she died and the same with my grandfather when he passed over a year ago...so for some of you who have no clue what the trio meant (INCLUDING DAN "THE FAN" SNYDER AND LARRY MICHEAL) to the thousand of families who have the same tradition and say it's time for a change in the booth, try taking away one of your family traditions that have run in your family for 2 decades and see how you feel OR you can flat out go fly a kite..be honest with you, I find it hard to believe that some of you die-hard Redskins fans want to see change with something that has been a Redskin Icon and a Redskin trademark for the past 20 plus years...Apparently you have no clue or have no understanding of the three most famous words in football--"TOUCHDOWN..WASHINGTON REDSKINS"...i have nothing against Larry Micheal and for the rest of my life for every Redskins game, the tv will ALWAYS be on mute and the trio will ALWAYS be on my radio just like it has been my entire 26 years of life bleeding burgundy and gold

Last season was my first listening to Redskins Radio. I thought Sonny and Sam were great but Larry kind of annoys me.

I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to Frank other then he was much better than Larry.

Was he forced to leave Redskins Radio or did he choose to?

Is Sam in the same situation?

I wish the radio broadcast was not delayed over the internet so I could mute my TV. I think the only commentator that gives the Skins any respect is Aikman and since he played for the Cowboys I could understand him not liking us.

Things change, my friend. I don't understand why Frank was replaced. When I hear the words "Touchdown, Washington Redskins", Frank's voice is the one I hear in my head. However, I would go so far as to say that Sam sounded like he'd lost the plot last season. Maybe he's always been that way, and I've not noticed it, but he really wasn't contributing a great deal to my enjoyment of the games last year. His back and forth banter with Sonny is fun, but not so much fun that it makes up for the fact that he appeared to have little grasp of the rules of the game any more.

I don't believe in change for change's sake, but sometimes it's for the best. The passing of traditions is a sad thing, but when they become obsolete, it's best to move on. Hell, I say bring back Frank, but Riggo or Doc would be an upgrade over Sam, bless him.

Oh, and welcome to the board!

Sonny and Sam sounded great to me, although I can hear age in Sonny's voice. That was a little worrisome. Both of them, however, sounded mentally sharp.

I especially liked Sonny's quick discussion of the corner-blitz (pre-season, I think). Roughly: I loved that play...All I had to do was stand up and throw to (Bobby) Mitchell or (Charley) Taylor...Instant ten yards...they knew if their corner went, I would give them the ball.

My parents used to turn off the sound on the TV and turn up Sonny, Sam, and Frank. A lot of people did that.
