CPallDAY08 I split this from the draft thread

Maybe start a discussion about Troy Bergeron that could include those not involved in the Mock Draft.

I do think it was at best a stretch at #15

Troy Bergeron is a AFL (AF2) offensive specialist (wide receiver) and potential NFL prospects.

Will he make it in the NFL if he makes it to the NFL?

Bergeron was a speedy wide receiver at Shaw High in Georgia, which won a state championship when he was junior in 2000. Bergeron, who is 6'2" and 180 pounds, also used his 4.4 speed to excel in track, finishing second in the state in the 200 meters as a senior. To no ones surprise, he was recruited by every major football program in the South after his stellar senior season in 2001. Bergeron eventually chose Auburn over Georgia, Florida State and a number of other top schools. However, he never made it to Auburn, as he quit the program after being informed by coaches that his speed would best be utilized at defensive back for the Tigers. From there, he transferred to Middle Tennessee State, where he would've played with NFL wide receiver Tyrone Calico. However, before he stepped onto the field for the Blue Raiders, Bergeron quit football again, due to the fact his girlfriend in Georgia had given birth to a son.

In 2004, at the age of 20, he had not stepped on a field since 2001 and it appeared he'd have to get a "real job" and would never again play the game he excelled at in high school. However, on a whim, Bergeron tried out for a local AFL2 team named the Columbus Wardogs. Showing the speed and athletic ability that wowed Auburn coaches, he not only made the Wardogs, but he went on to break several team records. At 20, he was the youngest player to play in AFL2. And despite not having played a down of football for a long while, he simply dominated that league, scoring 28 touchdowns in just 8 games for the Wardogs.

Who is Troy Bergeron?

Its obvious the Falcons needed a Wideout and I feel something special in this guy. It says alot of his character when you give up football for a couple years to raise your child. So I think he is a first round talent He has size, speed, intelligence and most of all character nuff said capish!

yeah well.....Arena isnt the NFL, and theres prob plenty of reasons why he played at Middle Tennesee State and not a higher tier college. He could have hands issues? durability? toughness? Theres ?'s im sure that he has which is why he hasnt been in the League yet or why most of us have never heard of him. I'd highly doubt he'd go first 2 rounds. Has he even declared?

I just wanted to quote this from the above article:

If the 21 year old Bergeron continues to show the talent and speed he's shown in the AFL so far, we think he could be a possible NFL draft pick in the next draft or in a Supplemental Draft down the line.

and...

Late-second day or UDFA prospect is most likely-

Im not saying he is a bad prospect, im just saying you could aquire him in the late rounds. A top 3 round pick is a bit much.
