Am I missing something here?

From Foxsports.com:
Washington's special teams were 14th in the league, despite an exceptional year from punter Derrick Frost and his coverage team — the second best unit in the NFL according to our rankings.

The coverage teams did to a great job. I mean....come on! It's really easy to stop a guy fielding a punt when he's only fielding it 20 yards away!

Do these people even watch football? I only have to listen to Redskins games to know that Frost was lousy.

Yes, you are missing something. Face it people, Frost is good. I have said this all year. Just because his kicks aren't pretty and he doesn't have a big leg doesn't mean that he can't play. He's a master of the forward roll and he does a good job getting the ball in the 20 and out of the endzone. As I said in another thread, coverage units can only be as good as their punter allows them to be. He did an excellent job and I wouldn't be upset if we saw him back in a 'Skins uniform next year even though I do concede that we could potentially upgrade. You don't have to be flasy to be effective! I think a lot of people don't realize that.

Washington ranked 13th in punts that pinned the opponent inside their own 20.
We ranked 20th in net yard average, and 29th in average yards per punt.
I'm only adding to that what I would see week after week (with a few exceptions)--ugly punts that seemed lucky to have bounced forward 20+ yards. He shanked more than a few punts off of the side of his foot this year. I'm not saying that you have to be flashy to be good but I think the numbers would at least contradict public opinion if he was good.

Yeah your right, that 14 yard punt against tampa with about 2 minutes left was a thing of beauty.

Thanks for the reminder, I must have lost my head there for a second

As far as I remember, Frost was one of our 3 weakest links going into the last quarter of the season (Frost, Royal, W Harris).
It seemed that he improved greatly the last quarter of the season.

IMO, I dont think he improved at all! Although, he couldn't have gotten much worse!

We need to find another punter!

the best punter is one that rarely sees the field--screw the punter, let's make sure that our offense is good enough to keep drives going regularly this year...

nah no no , frost MUST GO!!! he was PATHETIC in the latter stage of the season...lets open up our pocket books and get after somebody worth a damn because lord knows with a defense as stingy as ours and punter who can pin a team inside the 20 would completely change the squad

Frost was no good sure, but in my opnion we should have kept nick novak(cheap) and cut john hall(who we pay good money) who was consistently giving 35-40 yard line field postion on kickoffs, that had to hurt our special teams grade.

That is an absurd statement! No one wants to see the punter, but the reality is you do in each game. Therefore, we need a solid punter to get our defense good field position
