My first major grade

I just got back the grade for my first essay for College Comp. It was a hard assignment because we could write on absolutely anything and that seemed to give me trouble. I finally worked all of that out and turned it in. I got my grade back last night and I received an A. Here's the thing. I can revise if I want and resubmit to improve my grade. Part of me would like to do that, the perfectionst. However, there were people who received C's and D's and I feel like I'm taking time away from the professor to regrade my A just to get me the little + that I want to go with it. Is it wrong to do that? I've gotten a few opinions and they've all said no. The catch with that is all of them care about me more then they care about anyone else in the class or anything else. What's the right thing to do here?

If you feel you can improve on your grade and you take the time to resubmit it, you're not taking time away from the professor to regrade your A, that's what he's paid to do.
or you can look at it this way....
Someone out there was surprised and very happy that they got a B or a C and won't resubmit their paper to improve there grade. You'll be just take up the time they didn't take advantage of.
Congrats. on the A (Final grade TBA)

I'm a perfectionist too, but at the same time, it's your first paper... save your best for later on in the year.
Take advantage of the little bit of extra time doing what you do as well as anything else... being an A+ mom.

Wow thanks for the congrats niksder.
You and I are a lot alike BH. I figured I shouldn't show off too much on the easiest paper or when I fall to an A- I will look bad.
Thanks for the mom comment. After the stress of that paper I'm going to do nothing but focus on being a mom for a while. I'm not sure A+ is right but thanks for thinking so!

Congrats Niki, I would be real happy with the A, but if getting the + doesn't take that much time I'd do it.

I've since received two other papers back and both were A's. I think that either she is a very easy grader or she is grading on a curve and my classmates are expending any effort on the projects.
Her only input thus far has been to work on my transitions.
Thanks for the congrats everyone. And Fios I'd offer to tutor you but I just don't know what rumors would start if I started hanging out with a cup and trying to teach it Colleg Comp.

Again, congrats NikiH, sounds like you're working hard. as for the easy grader...perhaps you're not giving yourself enough credit for the work you do. 3 A's are no fluke. You're getting it done
!!!!!!!!
BTW - I'm not sure if you've stated this already, but, are you back in school for continuing education, self-improvement, or to finish up a bachelor's degree. Either way, keep up the good work.

I'd say that your professor isn't an easy grader, it's just that you're a geek!
Congrats Nerdlady! lol
