I was just sitting in my living room tonight enjoying a beer when all of the sudden a thought came to my mind.

Joe Gibbs is our head football coach.

Damn. How cool is that?

Man, I'm still sorta reliving the excitement of when it was first announced that he would be taking over the head coaching spot for the Skins again.

Anyone else out there still feel that chill up their spine when they think this, or is this all just "old hat" to you now?

I am the proudest Redskin fan that you can find. Joe Gibbs represents exactly the kind of values and ideals that I try to adhere to.

Let us enjoy while it lasts because I sincerely believe that Joe will honour his contrsct but no more. Two out of five years is great but in a strange way I do not wany time to pass too fast.

This is history in the making, -again-.

I don't think the full impact of Gibbs is realized by all. I have been living in Texas for 16 years and the last 10 has been pretty tough due to the inability to just beat the pukes every now and then. Thank you so much coach Gibbs for bringing respectability and pride back to the organization. If you have not already done so, I would highly encourage all Skin fans (or anyone for that matter) to read Gibbs biography. It's a great book, now he is going to have to write a sequel

OK Justice Hog. Joe Gibbs has been the coach for about 2 years now. Just realizing it can be somewhat forgiven. But nursing a beer for 2 years, unforgivable!!! LOL LOL LOL

I, like all true Redskin fans am glad he is back. Last year was super, even if we didn't get there.

I don't know about chills anymore, but whenever I hear the media or other teams fans talk bad about our skins I stop and tell myself to relax. Because we have Joe Gibbs steering the ship. There is no need to defend unfound criticism from anyone because in due time with Gibbs as our leader we WILL be bringing another Super Bowl home to DC.

and I still get chills every time I walk into my section and see the field.

I know what you mean, it's crazy that he is our coach. It's just so exciting wondering what might be just around the corner, he has already done so much since coming back. However, I wouldn't really say I had chills going down my spine anymore, it just seems like this is the way things OUGHT to be. It's just natural that Joe Gibbs should be coaching the Redskins! I do get chills everytime I watch the NFL Films highlights of his old Super Bowl victories though.

I was thinking the same thing ... that must be one heck of big beer ... which leads to other questions like how does he keep it cold? and how does he keep it fresh?

But I degress. Gibbs coming back brings me peace of mind, confidence, and assurance that the world is once again all right. He is slowly turning the organization into a winning powerhouse that I believe will last a decade or more!

We're on the verge of another Super Bowl title!!

When he was hired I honest to God though Joe Gibbs was a step backwards.

Now Joe Gibbs is a great coach, and backwards isn't a bad place to go when you're a Redskins fan, but I thought it was just a way to try to recapture the past and I didn't think it would end well.

Now, I see what Gibbs' role was to be.

He had become a very successful team owner in NASCAR and obviously had refined his business skill. He coached for two years and now seems to be shifting back into a GM/ team president role.

He took a 40 something coach and groomed him to lead the team one day (Williams) and set us back on the right track.

It was a good move, and hopefully we can build the winning tradition again.

I remember that someone once said of another coach "he could beat you with his players and then take your players and beat you with them" or something similar. We are very fortunate that Gibbs decided to come back and "right the ship" as it were!
This is a man of destiny and fortunately that included another stint as our coach. I think if we were not in such desperate shape he might not have come back to the NFL. We all know he is a friend of the owner of the Falcons - but Gibbs wanted to come back to take our team back to the top. That is his destiny and we are so lucky that he decided to do this again.

It is almost impossible to think that there were some who doubted - this is one of the best leaders of men we have ever seen.

In 2 seasons he has taken us into the top 5 in the NFC and I believe we will see him establish this franchise firmly at the top 2 or 3 teams in the NFL, and then help us stay there!

I am still thankful for being able to enjoy this team again & being proud to say to anyone who does not know "I'm a Redskins fan"!

20/20 hind sight....Where would we be if The Daniel was able to get Joe back in 2000?

This has be a great windfall for us as fans. Bringing back a HOF coach to coach the same team he retired from? has that ever been done before? It is now a move that has Raider fans wetting their pants. I don't think Art Shell is going to be able to accomplish what Joe has done. Art is not in the same class as Joe G.

No, no chills for me. The giddiness of the news has worn off, and been replaced by the even better feeling of knowing that the right man for the job is back where he belongs, and that there's really nothing to worry about.
It's a beautiful thing, that feeling. It's a comfort level I haven't had in years.

Well, Gibbs really isnt in charge anymore...You boys think that Gibbs is running the show are in the 80's realm. Its not the same as what we loved back then. We can all get our kozy Redskins Champion 91 Blanky out and snuggle, but its in the past. Gibbs has turned it ALL over to other guys, such as Williams(allready done that), and now Saunders will be the "Chief" on offense. I think that speaks for itself. Gibbs has moved up in the organization. LONG LIVE THE KING::::JOE GIBBS...HOF COACH. CHAMPION NASCAR OWNER..He will have more time to spend on TALENT this offseason.

No more goose bumps about Gibbs being our HC anymore. Maybe I am being a little to demanding but I fully expect him to bring us a championship before his contract is up, which is in 3 years. He has allready turned things around and we are going in the right direction but I think most fans will be disapointed without a ring or atleast a Superbowl apperance, within the next 3 years.

Every time I think about he team, I think, Joe Gibbs. Things are right again. And, yes, I still get a chill.

Oh, and, no, Gibbs has not given up control of the team. Who ran the Cowboys? Hairspray, or Norv Turner? Or Dave Wanstadt?

Further: Saunders is the offensive coordinator who works for Gibbs. The OC who was chosen because he learned from the same guys that Gibbs learned from, thinks the same way, and runs the same offense.
