bears looking for some help

I only chime in every once in a while, staying mostly on bears fan sites, but as I said before we are in need of a saftey and a wideout. can anyone tell me why bowen didn't play much this year (21 straight starts before the knee injury), and jacobs (former 2nd round pick)? we could use some depth at both positions, unless we get randle el first, before you guys!

Also, is thrash coming back to the skins?

thrash is coming back because he is too good on special teams...i think we would let jacobs go before thrash
Bowen has been a little slow since his surgery
you can spend to much on randl el if you like though

Bowen is a very good player that does not fit our system. He was hurt but he us ready to play. He has a great heart and he is a punishing safety. All bets are that wewill let him go for cap reasons.
Take care of him. He knows yur NFC division very well.

You tkink he doesn't fit our system? He was playing great until he was hurt. He was still hurting in preseason. Some times it takes a while to get back to form after an injury like that.

I already posted this, but in the wrong forum (i'm new, give me a little slack), however, My bears buddies and I were talking and wondering, why didn't bowen and jacobs play that much this year? bowen was a playmaker before he got hurt, and jacobs was a blazer at florida. what is their status going to be next season. possibly in blue and orange? bears'skins 2006 nfc championship, let the randle el sweepstakes begin!

Yeah, RiC....??? What do you mean, "doesn't fit" ?
I'll buy into the "lost a step" argument, no problem... but a physical safety who takes good angles and blitzes well is an exact fit.

why do the bears insist that their uniforms are blue, when they are clearly black? they are like superman's hair in the comic books- they are black, with a slight bluish hue when the light reflects a certain way. which makes them fundamentally BLACK!

they are navy blue, you just have to be there in person to see it. look at tyhe road pants, navy blue with and orange and white stripe.

Jacobs might be available. The defensive players and coaches say that he is perfect in practice -- speed, perfect routes, turns on a dime, very hard to cover. However, he did almost nothing in games, and the Redskins deperately needed him after Patten got hurt.
So...Jacobs may well be available, but I don;t think the Bears will want him, either.
Bowen? Hard to say if he didn't fit or wasn't fit. When healthy, he was a powerful player. If the Redskins drop him, I have a hunch it will be more for cap reason. Which would be tood bad.

Oh, and welcome back, dabear. You'll find that most of us arte much less grouchy during the off-season.
I don't claim to understand how the cap works, although you can find information here at Hogs Net. The rules are more complicated than C++, the programming language that grew from the fast, light, handy C-language into...well, weak joke if I have to explain all the background. Let's say that the cap is the creation of contract lawyers.

Bowen blitzes well...but "takes good angles"?
Have we watched the same guy? He's a fast guy who gets outrun precisely because he takes the
wrong angles...

hey, every db in the nfl takes a bad angle now and then. mike brown does it for us, even urlacher, you just notice it more when it is a db, but those guys on offense get paid also. i think bowen would fit in well here, same with jacobs because of the connection with grossman.

If i was the bears i would go after jacobs, even though he is not really panning out for us i think that with a change of scenery he has all the tools to be a good wideout in this league.

Glad you ask. He does not fit -under- the cap this coming season.

I bet you guys would just
love Taylor Jacobs. I know we do here in Washington.
If you ever need someone not to make a play when you need them to...he's your man.
If you like stat lines like 1 catch for 6 yards, he's your man.

I'd rather have me play at Wr than Jacobs. He sucks
