Will his HOF calling do anything for us Redskin faithfull. He is a lock first ballot. I believe he played 4 fairly meaningless season as a Redskin. Anything from his stay here stand out. I always thought he was kinda stealing money here.

He wasn't below average with the Skins, but yea, this move never sat well with me. You would think that Snyder and compnay would have known there was a reason that the Bills organization was willing to part with him. The same can be said of almost all players. These organizations observe these players every snap of practice, preseason, every game. They knew what they were parting with. The same could be said of Brunnell, actually. Anyhow, I largely agree with you. Smith was a Buffalo Bill.

When he retired. Bruce was worthless for us.

My favorite Bruce Smith moment with the Skins was when he retired.

Although he wasn't the dominate player that he had been with the Bills, he probably had more sacks in his 4 years as a Redskins than any other Redskins lineman since probably Charles Mann...

His first year in D.C. he also got Marco Coleman into the pro bowl. It wasn't a horrible signing just not a great one.

The big problem was he was more interested in his own record than in the Redskins winning.

Very true his best move was retirement, he was sucking a bunch of money out of the Skins for a below average to average performace.

I am disappointed with you all. Especially you, Jake.

Bruce Smith didn't retire. He was piddling around and we had to cut him costing us even more cap room.

Exactly! I remember this specifically as the last selfish slap in the face. Bruce "I can't play the run" Smith was a liability when he played here.

I forgot we cut him. I try to forget that he ever played for us because he didn't really want to play for us. He only played for two reasons: money and the sack-record.

I thought it was hilarious about how each training camp, Smith would come up with this mystery injury which prevented him from practicing with the rest of the team . . . then, lo and behold . . .he was always "healed" by opening day.

Bruce Smith was just another high profile wasted pick by the Redskins. I am really glad that Danny seems to be passsed that stage in his life.

I disagree with this statement, if you watch his last year he was always close to getting the quarterback, but our whole team was struggling. We didn't have dominating Safeties back then.

how about the safety on warner....a bright spot???

How when on run plays the other team would always run to his side because Bruce was always going for the sack. The guard would just give Bruce a push to the outside leaving a huge hole for the running back to run through. So basically there was never a good moment with Bruce. He came here for one purpose only to get the sack record.

He wanted the record. Plain and simple. If he was in his prime, he wouldn't have been 'close', he would have actually gotten the sack.

Bruce Smith put up better numbers than some of our current D-Ends.

Bruce Smith should be a Buffalo Bill. The only reason he came to the Skins for two years was for the "sack record" and money!!!The sad part is that our front office was dumb enough to do it back then!!!What the hell where we thinking? This is one of the reasons Gibbs is so much better,he would never waste money on a player thats ready to retire!!!

My favorite Bruce Smith moment was being at the stadium after he had broken the record and seeing that they were selling coins to commemorate the sacks record.

I had a good laugh thinking about how maybe 10 people would actually buy that thing and half of them would be in Bruce's immediate family.

Bruce would sprint for the QB on every play as soon as the ball was snapped. He was an absolute liability to the Redskins and I am glad he's gone.

Come on guys! You have to give him credit for one play. In Darrell Green's last game Bruce caused Hutchinson to fumble the ball that LaVar picked up for a touchdown. Bruce hit him so gosh dang hard that the ball flew back some 20 yards. But yes, other than that Bruce wasn't all that for us.

My favorite Bruce Smith moment came when Lavar Arrington knocked him unconscious accidently in that Denver game trying to hit Grise.

My favorite Bruce Smith moments were the 15 minutes of the first quarter of SB 26 when the Redskins ran at Smith. I think he was going against Jim Lachey, and by the second quarter Smith didn't seem as eager to play.

Does that count as a Bruce Smith / Redskin moment?

He came to the Redskins for 3 things 1) sack record, 2 a ring 3) money. In those days Dannys spending spree was supposed to get us a ring. Is he gonna mention the Redskins on his HOF induction speech?

I think all parties concerned would prefer it if he didn't.
