It depends on who plays... the outfield for the USA will be pretty weak...

I mean, Derrek Lee at 1B... but will the Rangers let Mark Teixiera play LF? Bonds is gone, so is Berkman...

So the OF for the USA team in the WBC looks like Johnny Damon, Vernon Wells and Ken Griffey Jr... with Carl Crawford as the top replacement... they;re not exactly setting the world on fire with the outfield... though the infield offense and defense should be amazing...

True, but the US team has the pitching and that will be the bigest factor.

Whats wrong with Wells? GREAT power, and even better glove. Had an off year at the plate, but will definatly be a great player for team USA.

Your right, they do have a shot though. They should be on the list, they are probably the next best team after those 6.

The real question going into this tourney is how many Cubians will defect?

Until last saturday, I thought Panama had a chance to make it at least to the second round, even with Cuba and host Puerto Rico in their group. Saddly, the head coach quit yesterday due to differences with members of the Panamanian baseball assoc.

I think the dominican republic and USA have very good chances to win it all. Cuba is always a threat.

It starts in a week and I don't think pitchers are ready to throw 100%. There are also a bunch of good players not taking part because of possible injury. I think this whole thing will be a dissapointment to MLB, it won't be a bust but they were thinking this was gonna be like the playoffs and world series hype.

Japan and Korea are in round 2. I am pulling for the USA but I have a feeling it's gonna be Puerto Rico

To RIC, congrats on Canada's win today. Amazing with the roster the US has.

I'm sad today cause Panama had a big chance to beat the cubans today, but fell short in extra innings.

So far in the tournament, the Dominican Republic looks like the team to beat.

Los dominicanos van a ganar el torneo! Yes, they defeated Venezuela, the Caribbean champion as well.

What happened with Panama? They were ever so close! But Cuba has a GREAT team too.

That group with Puerto Rico, Panama and Cuba is the toughest followed by that of Mexico, USA and Canada.

Big win for our friends up north. This tournament is alot more even than most people though it was going to be, including myself.

Canada plays Mexico today. Both teams have some good players. I would not take any result for granted here. Yes, it is a VERY even tournament.

Loaiza from Mexico played a great game against Canada. Best pitcher in the tournament so far. Canada is likely out of the Competition, unless South Africa beats and eliminates the USA with Roger Clamans today.

Not likely.
