More evidence that Ramsey is GONE

Joe Gibbs didn't even bother to call Patrick Ramsey to notify him that Al Saunders had been hired.
He DID call Campbell and Brunell though...
This is according to Rotoworld and the Washington post.

I gotta believe that Gibbs isnt that blatantly obvious. I'm sure both he and Ramsey have spoken about him not returning. I bet if it were up to Gibbs he would have him back for depth but I think he has told ramsey he will move him to give him a shot to start somewhere else. Ramsey has shown nothing but class and heart since being a Redskin and sure enough Gibbs is rewarding that. My opion.

I agree. That would be Gibbs character to do that.

Joe Gibbs said in his end of the year press conference that he and Patrick both felt they needed to think about the situation before making any decisions. I think Patrick must decide whether he's willing to come back with a chance to compete for the starting job or whether he wants to go elsewhere where he will have a better chance to start.
My feel from what Gibbs said was that if Patrick wants to be traded, he will try to accommodate him.
If Ramsey decides he wants to stay, I think Gibbs and Saunders would both be glad to have a backup with a season's worth of starts and familiarity with the system.

I really don't believe Ramsey will stay in DC. I think he'll be traded and play rather well wherever he goes. Gibbs has already said Campbell has to "earn his money" now...meaning he'll get some additional reps and possible playing time. Did he ever mention Ramsey's name with "working"? No....Ramsey is gone unless he REALLY REALLY wants to stay here. I doubt it though, he's definitely gone.

I think the writing is on the wall. All the thinking that is going on is "to what team, and for what compensation".
I say package him with our 2nd round pick and trade up into the first Round to grab one of the three stud D-Ends 1. Kiwinaka, 2.Mario Williams 3. Tamba Hali
OR
Take one of the top WR's if we can only trade into the late first round.
I would rather do that than get what the reports indicate have been offered, a mid-round pick.
I would love to acquire a big free agent receiver and draft Sinorice Moss. This would allow us to let Sinorice handle kick return duties, and let Antonio Brown go. Putting him in there with his brother and a guy like Eric Moulds would give our WR's depth and dangerousness. A Brown is wasting a roster spot since he has hands of stone. Moss could handle dual roles, and besides Saunders is also a fan of having guys that can stretch the field, and also having possession receivers and depth at the position. This group would be better than anything he has had at KC.
1. Santana Moss
2. Eric Moulds
3. Sinorice Moss
4. David Patten
5. James Thrash
OR
1. Santana Moss
2. Maurice Stovall
3. David Patten
4. James Thrash
5. Taylor Jacobs

I think it has been obvious to the universe that Patrick Ramsey will be playing somewhere else next year. The first hint should have been the statement that "I am still a Redskin, for now." when Brunell took over.
Personnaly, I wish him well, except when he plays the Redskins.

You'll hear a announcement very soon from Redskins Park that Ramsey has been given permission to seek a trade.

Those first round rookie WRs are such a gamble. I doubt the team would try to fill such an important position that way. I'd be very happy with Eric Moulds if it could be worked out.
You have to think that WR is one position where Snyder will come through for us and help make something happen.
Every day I'm becoming more and more of a Dan Snyder fan. I like to think he is really learning something from Joe Gibbs, and we'll have a really solid owner even when Gibbs leaves.

I'm liking the idea of Moulds the more I think about it...although I'd like to have someone younger. I like the idea of getting Moss's brother. I think Patten will fit nicely into a #3 role.

I think Ramsey might land in Miami and I think he will be a good QB just like Trent turned out. It is unforunate there is no real need for him with us. If Cambell is a bust then we are screwed.

I really hope Campbell does good, like everyone says he is the future of this team, now like everyone says that many college scouts said it took him three years to establssh as a good college qb, the NFL is a totally different thing than college, I hope he does well and understands the game faster as it took him in college.
Speaking for Ramsey I've been a suporter of him since we drafted him, I really hope he gets an opportunity somewhere else, A REAL opportunity which Gibbs NEVER gave him, he never gave him a REAL chance, a little more thana quarter is ridiculous, it's distroying a man's confidence. I really wish Ramsey the best, hope he turns a pro-bowl QB and shoutts Gibbs mouth when he turns into a probowler, the way Ramsey was treated as a Redskins is unexcusable and ridiculuos.

What do you mean "no real need?" Do you think that, all else equal, Gibbs wouldn't want to keep two experienced guys who have two years in the system along with the young prospect?

Oh..I thought you were going to say his jersey went on sale really cheap.

Are you a 'skins fan? Are you questioning Joe Gibbs? Ramsey will never be all-pro, I think anyone with half a brain can tell you that. As my Dad often says when Gibbs makes a questionable decision, "I think Joe is a little smarter than us." Gibbs knows what hes doing, and knows a heck of alot more about football and about his players than any of us.

In the salary cap era, there's no point in stockpiling expensive talent at QB (2 of whom almost never see the field anyway) when we have needs at other areas. If Ramsey's got any sort of trade value at all, ship him off somewhere. I'd like to see him get a fair shot somewhere else anyway.
A lot of contradictions

How can someone not be needed, but if a question mark turns out to be a bust, we're screwed?
It sounds like if we keep Lavar, we could find a way to keep Ramsey if we want to hedge our bets on Campbell. He's going to cost us $1.5 million in cap for a strong potentialed QB in the NFL? Sounds like a bargain compared to a 3rd/4th round draft choice.
As for the comments about being stupid to think he has potential, it seems to me every scout and most coaches throughout the NFL think he has promise. Gibbs may know how to win with the best of them, but he hasn't been exceptional at finding lasting QBs. That being said, you don't know what Gibbs thinks anyhow. Don't forget, he's a lot smarter than you, so how do you know what his actions really mean?
I think the real question is if Ramsey is willing to stay. He's shown times of being young, but he's also showed a lot of class. If he hasn't represented the character of a young Redskins of the future for Joe Gibbs, than I don't know what players can.

I know Gibbs thinks so little of Ramsey he's tried to replace him twice, and Gibbs preferred an injured Brunell to a healthy Ramsey on most occasions this year and last. Brunell was completing less than half his throws last year, but still got 9 games before getting the hook. On the other hand, Ramsey got two quarters this year before being benched. It's clear Gibbs doesn't want Ramsey in there; it just baffles me he even keeps him around.
Baffled

Maybe he realizes he's a young QB who needed to see that you can be successful if you throw the ball less. It wasn't displayed effectively with Spurrier, and definitely not last year.
If you're baffled, simple logic. You keep a player around that people definitely are willing to trade for because you think he can perform for you at some point.

No more short receivers. Santana Moss is fine for us, we need a tall possession receiver with at least decent speed and separation at the line of scrimmage. No Sinore Moss please

Did you post this in the wrong thread? Or is this somehow related to Ramsey leaving and I just am not getting it?

Okay, Cville. I'll help you out here. Looks like Patches is going, going, gone...I just hope we can fool somebody into thinking that he's the next Joe Montana and get a Herschel Walker-type deal.

And what does that have to do with Sinorice Moss?

His name can be rearranged to spell "Moss is no Rice".

Maybe Al Sauders says -- I'd like to see Ramsey in camp...
If we only get offered a mid-round pick for him, I'd keep him for his last year. I'd like to see what Al thinks.
(not sure why the WR stuff entered the thread either but since it's here -- IMO, Santana's brother is not an upgrade for us. He may end up being good, but I can't see that happening for a few years. He's very small, he may end up dead after a few hits on Special Teams.)
