On comcast LaVar was asked if he would be open to reconstructing his contract.
LaVar said. "I open....We've opened up the lines of communication and we're starting to see things more clearly now. So I'm optimistic but we'll se how things go."
He also said "A lot of people are making this out to be bigger than it really is (speaking of Times Article.)
In closing he reiterated that "I just want to be a redskin so I'm open."

Hate on Lavar now!!! ** cough * Redeemed * cough, cough* Redeemed.

Boss Hog has been saying all along, sometimes alone, that he has seen Lavar in person and can't say enough about how much of a genuine, team player this guy is. Engaging the fans even when he didn't have to. I am sure he would earn even more respect from his teammates if he did that and took less guaranteed money.
If he would be open to restructuring his deal after all that he has been through with this organization...you've gotta love the guy. He admitted he said somethings in the past but Gibbs is building a family here.
When people in your family mess up, you forgive and embrace them with open arms. If this story holds to be true and he does work things out with the organization, he deserves to remain a Fan Fave and some people who have consistently criticized his character...*cough* Redeemed, owe him a good ole fashioned THN apology.
We've heard that "Im a Redskin" crap before and look where Smoot and Pierce ended up, they jumped for more money. If Lavar takes less money to stay, that would be terrific.

This is big news that I've been waiting to hear straight from LaVar. I have been hoping he would stay and restructure. It would help with the cap and prove his loyalty to the team.
Great news. The next thing I want to read about LaVar is that he actually restructures.

Seems to me, that he'd help our cap a lot more if we cut him before that roster bonus kicks in, but only if we can take his bonus hit in 07. Not sure if that's possible or not because of when we'd have to release him. I'd rather see him stay, but he just kills our cap next year...

We love you LaVar.

I hope he stays. His wife's probably telling him she's got friends here and now the baby and she doesn't want to move !! The power of a woman ! LOL

It would be nice to have him back. I expect him to flourish barring any further damage to his existing injuries. If he can heal up and get a full offseason of work in... We'll see what he can really do.

And not to mention, if he can be a 3 down linebacker...

I think we have gathered from both Gibbs and Williams that we will try and be as stable as we can We will try and be as prudent as we can and that means trying to keep as many as we can.
This is an interesting thing when it gets to the dollars we have never really been able to predict how someone will "take it" when he does not get what he thinks he can.
I am quite content to let it all play out a little further. We have a nucleus and it will be a good insight into some of these guys as to who wants to play for a successful franchise and who wants the money. In most cases we are forced to be as low as possible because of the moves we have made but the players will not be that happy when they see how much they might make elsewhere.
We are in not bad shape compared to some - I just heard the wonderful Jets are 30mil over and I know that there are more "bad" franchises already looking at the FA market with very little to spend!

If LaVar were to leave, I would cry for at least 4 years straight

I would cry for five
Seriously though, I would.
I mean, do you really want Warrick Holdman to start again? (actually I think he's a FA, but if LaVar left, we'd probably resign hi)

I really want to see LaVar stay. How perfect would it be to see him have a full season with Gibbs and co. without any contract discrepancies, injuries, and everything else thats affected him in the last two years. Maybe another pro bowl season on the horizon.

Of course he wants to stay. This has NEVER been in question (despite what some might say).
Go LaVar!

I'd love to see him stay. An athlete of his caliber is rare and as long as he's willing to play it JG's way, he's a plus.
Any way we can keep the Postons out of the room?

He was on Sportstalk980 earlier today.
I only caught a little bit of his interview before it stopped working but,
I really hope they can take care of this situation as soon as possible.
I am tired of hearing people saying that he will be gone before next season.
It is worse than when everyone thought Gregg Williams would leave for sure.

I am cautiosly optimistic.
I hope things work out for him to stay. I also hope that a NEW collective agreement is NOT in place so that we can recruit:
a couple of OL;
a couple of DL; and
a couple of WRs.

Bring Back Lavar at all cost, They talk about wanting to have 15 true Redskins to build around, well they don't get any true'er that Lavar.

I would not shed a tear, as you all know. I'm not a "hater", but I do hope I'm a "realist".
Lavar is all rep and no pop these days...you know, the kind of guy they put into the Pro Bowl over four or five other guys that genuinely deserved to go based on what they'd done, despite not being all that famous.
Look...if he restructures and resigns...I'm a Redskins fan. I root for everybody donning our colors every day. I am not, however, a LA fan.
I need to see something more tangible to go with the hype.
That's all I'm saying.

I'm a LaVar fan. But, I don't subscribe to the "at any cost" school. Get him restructured, or get him out of here and use the cap space to improve the team.
