Redskin Player of the Year honors

I thought it would be nice if we let the board members pick their 'Redskin Players of the Year', so I'm going to post a poll in the near future. I'll have three official polls... offensive POTY, defensive POTY, and special teams POTY.
In the mean time, can you please post who you think should be each of the three. I'll do up the polls after I see a good cross-section of picks and that way we make sure we have complete lists for the 'official polls'.
Think of it as a... 'I'd like to nominate so-and-so... anyone second the motion?'
I'll wait a day or two and then post official lists either on the main site, the boards, or both.
Thanks.

Sweet. So when I think about Player of the Year, I don't just think about stats or big names, you also have to look in between the lines.
So on offense, I'll nominate
Clinton Portis (duh!) Not only was Clinton the workhorse back that no one said he could be, but he blocked like a hog, went all out 100% of the time, and kept the lockeroom loose with the interviews. He definately filled the locker room leader role this year.
For Defense, I nominate
Marcus Washington. Too sum it up in a sentance, he was the Clinton Portis of the defense.
Special Teams is little difficult this year. Last year I would say James Thrash 100% but I don't think he got as many chances this year. Yes, Antonio Brown had the KR TD, but that's all he did. And yes Mike Sellers did a nice job, but I'm going to shock the world and nominate
Ade Jimoh
Ade stepped it up this year on ST with his big hits, which would always fire up the team.

I have to go with Santana on offense, Mike Sellers on special teams and Lemar Marshall on defense. He had a quiet but good year.

I would go with Santana Moss on Offense.
I would go with Marcus Washington on Defense
And Pierson Prielou. (I'd probably vote for Sellers, but just to give you another name for the nomiation) for Special Teams.

Moss and Washington
Nobody expected Moss to do so well, esp;Probowl. Portis had a great year but it really is just a normal year for him, Moss had a breakout year.

I don't think there's need for a vote on defense -- Marcus Washington.
The other two look like two-horse races.
My choices are Moss on offense and Sellers on teams.

You know, I was going to nominate the exact same three people as air_hog, even Ade Jimoh! Go figure!

i have been singing sellers praises all year but sellers has skills and my vote for jimoh is more for the simple fact that he's a guy that no one wanted... me included and he has found himself a nice spot on this team and he isnt afraid to throw his body around.

Ok I'm not sure I can participate in this poll. It's a wonderful idea and the reason that I cannot vote is actually a good one.
Ever since I've been closely following this team and football in general I'd have voted no problem, even would have had a specific member in mind, but this year that all changed. Our team played as just that a team. There were a few weeks when Portis carried the offense, there was a week or two that without Brunnell we couldn't have sparked the win. Same with Moss,

ey, Sellers..... the list goes on. Turn to the other side of the ball and I feel the same way. Ryan Clark had a monster season. Marcus showed his great intesity that makes him one of the motivators of this team. Lavar stepped up a few times and showed that he is capable of contributing. Then we have to mention the big guys. Salave'a was a monster. He got his finger tips on so many balls that he helped the team hold the league record. Griffin was a beast at busted threw and scaring quite a few guys into throwing the ball away.
And finally the coaching staff, they had a few stumbles along the way but they all managed to get these players on track when the entire football community had written them off, that is something that cannot be an easy task.
I won't get into special teams because we all know that they, aside from the punting, showed vast improvement.
So for once I can say I'm proud of my "team" and mean it. No exceptions. This group worked so well together that my sadness on Saturday wasn't just about not going further in the playoffs but about not seeing this exact group of men on the field again to do battle together.

I hate doing this, but we have to have 2 on offense: Moss & Portis (co-mvps). If I had a gun to my head... I'd vote for Moss. This guy was the one we were needing in 04 when we said we needed a "player" to stretch to defense so that Portis can do what he does so well. The fact that Portis did eventually become a leader has made this more difficult.
Defense: No question WASHINGTON!! (Glad everyone else saw what I've been witnessing for 2 years now).
Teams: Sellers, w/Thrash 2nd.
Hail.

I'll nominate Moss and Portis; Daniels and Washington; Sellers and Thrash on ST - (in alpha order!)
I also agree with Niki's point - a lot of the success has been due to these guys playing better together and the coaches adaption of their game planning to suit their talents. I also think our Teams play has improved dramatically - may be even more improvement in store here when we address the kickers!!!
Great job by the players and coaches.
CONGRATULATIONS.
