Molinaro/Wilson progression?

What's the story with the young O-linemen we have on the team? I haven't heard a thing about them. Does anybody know how they are coming along?

The depth there is scary...

I don't imagine progressing well because Saturday when Brown went down Raymer was broght in to play instead of either one of them.

I thought Wilson had been released before the season, but Molinaro is there. From what BossHog says, he is a prospect. But he was drafted as a tackle, and that's what he's listed as on the roster, so he wasn't an alternative when Brown went down. I think they'll do something about the guard position during the offseason, either in the draft or free agency.

Wilson was relased during the pre-season and he signed with the Vikings practice squad in September. His preactice squad contract ran up this week but I assume he will return to Minnesota.

... and Molinaro has been backing up the tackle position so he hasn't seen much guard duty (although he could easily play there).

Frankly, I think they should have put Raymer at center and Rabach at guard when Brown went out. Casey only started playing center last year wheras it's Raymer's natural position. I realize that the center may seem like a more important position to keep the same, but in this instance, I think we'd have just been better off making a double move. Poor Cory was lost in there and who can blame him? He's only played guard a handful of times and it's not like he was getting reps at guard in the offense. I think it would have been less of an adjustment for Casey to move as he's obviously taken virtually every snap this year... Cory hasn't even seen the field all year long.

Boss -- The only problem with Rabach to guard and Raymer to center is, Gibbs is turnover adverse..and Cory/Brunell may have fumbled some snaps with that loud crowd. When Raymer played earlier this year, he fumbled a couple snaps.

I normally don't like to 2nd guess Gibbs as he's forgotten more than I know about football, but they needed to upgrade their OLine depth before this year began, and didn't do it. Carrying Raymer indicated to me that we were scraping the bottom. Marty cut him 2 years ago...Marty never cuts lineman who can help his team.

I would have liked Friedman over Raymer but again, Gibbs and Bugel know Oline more than I do. Hard to not line Ray Brown, but he was our BEST reserve Olineman..that says a lot.

I've been worried about Oline depth all year and if you go back to threads on what we need -- I've been saying for months, it's OLine, without a doubt. Everyone keeps saying DL, WR, etc...I think possibly one of our number 1 needs is an upgrade at Oline depth. I'd even like a new starting LG -- Dokcery doesn't impress me. As a reserve, fine.

We better get a reserve Guard (a cheaper, slightly aging guy who is a cap casualty from another team), center (draft) and someone to push Dockery (free agency...spend a little money on this, if necessary). Our team is based on the run -- we don't run, we lose.
