We've started here with some initial thoughts on the end of the season.

Put yours here.

I'll repeat here what I put in that thread:

FanfromAnnapolis wrote:Sweep of Dallas, sweep of the Eagles, playoffs, playing to the end of the 4th quarter against the #1 seed in the NFC.

All I can say is: Thank you Joe.

5-1 in the division was great, The Monday Nighter was unbelievable, with the way they were playing i expected more.

Damn I was going to sleep...Good thread FanfromAnnapolis.

The sweep was sweet, especially the Dallas one...but what was great was the slow acknowledgement of what this team stands for and is capable of.

Next year we'll get close..Gibbs will get us the Lombardi once more I absolutely know that.

Well, I have to agree with what everbody else on here is saying. The Skins played very hard for their coach. They pretty much took themselves as far as their talent should allow. I don't think the Seahawks are much of a better team - Home Field is huge advantage in the playoffs. They (the Seahawks) earned it, even though they did so while in the weakest division in the NFL. Anyhow, it's obvious what this team needs for the future. They need someone alongside Moss to help in their passing game. They need one of their young Quarterbacks to step up and sit in the drivers seat (Brunnell played hard for us but I think this probably as far as he could ever take them). They could use a dominating Pass Rusher. I think they could also use a bit more depth in the Offensive Line and Cornerback positions. Most importantly, though, they need to retain they players they have, as well as their coaching staff.

This question has been put forth as a poll and asked on the board quite a bit, "Do you think that this season has been a success?" And, the answer is most definitely a resounding YES! Yes we lost, but we have so much to look forward to next year. The upgrade at a few key positions and we should go even further next year. That is something to look forward to and keep us going during this offseason. Thanks to the Skins faithful who hung in there! Thanks to the players who played their hearts out this season. And thanks to the coaches and the Head Coach, Joe Gibbs, for bring us back to respectability, sweeping Dallas and the Iggles, and getting to the playoffs and going as far as we did. To all of this I say, "HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!"

Well, it's been a hell of a ride all season long from the lows at New York, Tampa Bay and Oakland to the Highs at Dallas, Philadelphia and Tampa Bay. This franchise has been pointed in the right direction and with a few tweaks to the personnel we can hopefully go deeper into the Playoffs next year. One very happy and proud redskin fan. I'll probably not be going to the draft this year and try and make it over for both training camp and a regular season game

I'm proud as can be.

Hell of a season for the fellas. To do what they did with the team as it is currently constructed is testament to the enduring greatness of Joe Gibbs and his staff, and to the collective heart of the team and to their belief in each other.

From 5-6...to 10-6...And a gutsy playoff win...and to be a play or two away from a trip to the NFC Championship Game...? Incredible.

And that's saying nothing of the warm fuzzy feeling of sweeping the Eagles...and ripping the heart out of the damn Cowboys at Texas Stadium...and then STOMPING THEM in Washington.

Yeah, I've been a doubter (as some of you have so eloquently pointed out). After a decade of terrible football, I think you can understand why. And I admit I lost faith at mid-season. But you know what? I am grateful to the team for FINALLY playing with some stones and shutting me up. They've restored my hope in the team with the way they finished this year.

I've been to the toilet known as Texas Stadium for 15 straight years now when they've made their annual visit, and I'll be there screaming my lungs out for them again when they make their trip in the fall.

Thanks Coach. Thanks Assistants. Thanks Team. Hell, I'll even thank Little Danny Snyder.

You're on the cusp of having something really good, and I am at long last excited for the future.

HAIL!

It has been a great ride and im glad this team has finally returned.

After a few tweaks here and there i hope that we can finally come out the gate next year and do something special. Were gonna be the "worst 10-6 playoff team ever" until we show everyone something theyll never forget.

I want this team to finally give the media absolutely nothing to question or poke fun about next year...

Anyone want to know what the skins did the season after the last time Joe led us to a 10-6 season?

1990 10-6

1991 ....?

It's definitely a downer to lose this game, but I don't think I've felt so good after a loss all year long. Breaking Dallas's heart in Dallas then stomping them into the ground at Fedex was worth the season all by itself. Beating Philly twice was glorious. Going into Tampa and revenging that bogus Alstott score was sweeter than sweet. Five in a row to get into the playoffs, priceless.

This team has heart and guts and talent. With a few additions and adjustments, next year could see the 'skins very easily in the Super Bowl.

It's pretty obvious that the loss of Randy Thomas was a huge blow to the offensive line and to the offense in general. We need more depth there, especially with Ray Brown probably retiring. I've said all season long that DE and WR are the top priorities. At this point I'd say it's more like 1) WR 2) O-line and 3) DE.

Brunell was a great steadying influence on this team, but his arm doesn't look like it will take us to the NFC Championship game and beyond. Just not enough strength and/or accuracy. What we need here is a new medical procedure which whoud enable us to graft Brunell's head on Ramsey's body.

Joe Gibbs really needs to pick up his offensive coaching effort. Four quarters in Tampa and the first three quarters in Seattle were really poor for him. Hopefully next year he will pick it up some.

What can you say about Marcus Washington, Gregg Williams, and the defense? They are the heart and soul of this team. I don't think we've ever had a better defense. Huge, huge effort guys. Please bring it again next year, Joe Gibbs will have an offense that's more together by then.

Great year for the 'skins, thanks guys, it's been a huge pleasure this year.

Overall a great season. Best moment for me was being in stands for the beatdown of Dallas at Fed Ex. Only thing that I'm dissapointed in is the progression of the offense. The offense showed great improvement during the season but reverted back to being conservative and innefective the last 3 weeks. Hopefully we can find ourselves a new qb, #2 wr, and some o line depth for next year.

Solid development and progression on all three sides of the ball (off/def/sp.) The continuity of a returning coaching staff will continue to improve this much improved organization.

No one gave us a shot for the majority of the season. We were just a few plays away from divisional champs, and from advancing to the NFC Championship game. None-the-less, my heart swells with pride for the organization...something I haven't felt since the early '90's.

This team can only get better from here. As Joe continues to turn over rocks and find his blue-collar heros...I'll be right here to throw my fist up in the air and scream..."Hail to the Redskins..."

Exactly how I feel. I've been angry all night because I never want to go to the playoffs and lose but I will always be proud of this season we've had.

Need a possession receiver, move Patten to the slot. I'd like a young guard for depth, and of course a pass-rushing defensive end. I'd also like a healthy Mark Brunell for all of next year...

I am pissed. We worked hard to get to the playoffs and we wasted a golden opportunity. Next year won't be so easy with the return a healthy eagles and development of a well balanced giants team. We probably won't even be division favorites. We some big offseason moves and a Ramsey-Brunell brain-body transplant.

My expectations for next year will be high.

Of offense, we have a good line, but we need more depth. We deperately need a legitimate #2 WR. At QB I am not sure Brunell is the solution for next year. Our QB has to find a way to get the ball to receivers when defenders stack 8 in the box, and in the two most important games of the season, Brunell couldn't do that. He might have given us the best chance of the guys we had to choose from this year, but next year may be different.

On defense, we need a little more depth with the defensive backs and we need to add a pass rushing DE.

On special teams, we need a kicker who can generate some touchbacks. Maybe John Hall is ont 100% right now. Maybe he will come back stronger next year. But we cannot let opposing teams receive kickoffs at the 10 yard line. Because we play a game that is always a battle of field position, we might want to find a punter who can boom it but also consistently land the ball inside the 20.

Although I am dissappointed that we did not play our best game against Seattle, we have a lot to build on. Our guys got some playoff experience this year, and it was good to hear Gibbs, Brunell and Portis all talk about keeping the team together going into next season . . .

Judge, you can just shut up now that the team's done good. You shouldn't be able comment now after your constant bail-outs on the team.... You're a fair weather fan who should stop cluttering the message board. Go away and be miserable by yourself and have a nice off-season collecting your complaints for game-time comments next year. I can't stand people like you.

Next season WILL be tough, any NFL season is, but this isnt an era where the eagles can just beat up on us anymore, this skins team can beat any team as long as they give it their all, i think if the eagles think they can come back healthy and we'll all just bow down and hand them the division like in the past then they have another thing coming.

The NFC East will be a dog fight next year and the eagles will just be joining into the fray, i can see all the teams in the division going 3-3.
