I have been watching the Bucs, Eagle, and a few other games the last couple days and it hit me about something we could use.

I think we should draft a substandard QB with excellent speed in the second day and use them as a utility player and move him around on the offense from WR to QB to RB to take some of the pressure off Moss to produce all the explosion plays. He wouldn't need to be that great at any position, but just have the ability to get a good 10-15 yard play here and there.

I think a good player for this role would be a Brad Smith type in the third round if he slips because of his eratic passing.

I think the best example of this would be a Kordell Stewart or Antwaan Randle-El.

What do you all think?

Yeah, I want to get Hester. The guy is a flat out playmaker, plus he's from the U so Portis, Moss, and Taylor would highly recruit him.

He has the talent to be a star, and under Gregg Williams, I'm sure he could slowly but surely become a great young CB with tremendous KR ability.

If he's there late 2nd/3rd round I would love to get him.

i'm excited to see hester in a skins uniform, he's just az fast as moss and i think he's much taller, somewhere around 6'1" maybe? that guy is just a natural talent, and we'd be nuts to pass him up. not only can be play CB, but we can stick him all over the field, at WR, H-back on passing downs, and CB of course. Also, we could then finally get rid of fumblerooski brown and have hester be our return man.

I heard he might fall to the 3rd round because he was inconsistent on D, but oh man would i love to get him! he could return kicks like no other and we could use him as a nickel corner or even on offense!

We better the heck get a DE in the second round.

Also, Hester won't last past mid second since some team will find the temptation to great.

I bet the raiders take him with their 6th or 7th pick, whatever it is, and then Marcus Vick with their 2nd rounder

Sadly, I can't agree. I think that if we do find another QB, it ought to be a guy with time on the job. Campbell fills the "young QB" slot nicely, and there's only room for one very young guy there.

I don't want a full-time QB, I just want someone with speed who can make plays at different spots on the field with a good number of skills.

As long as the Redskins have no threat of explosion outside of Moss, a team with a good CB and scheme can shut us down.

As much as I like him, Jason Campbell isn't exactly a blazer. Main reason I want us to get someone from the QB spot is because it is much easier for an athletic QB to move to WR and other positions than a wR to move to QB on a play and try to pass.

I'd like for us to get a guy like that but I'd bet that he won't fill one of the 3 QB slots. I'd bet he'd take a WR or CB slot.

Brunell is 36, Gibbs will want someone he trusts to back him up. I think Ramsey is the perfect guy. No way can Brunell last all next season like he did this year...I've been very surprised with that. Campbell is not the guy, yet.

The latest Sporting News indicates that the Skins might have interest in Gaffney (as a #2 WR) or Randle El as a WR/PR.

The best part of the story is that the Skins may have serious interest in Steve Hutchinson - LG from the Seahawks. He's a guy we SHOULD have taken the year we wasted our pick on Gardner. Some folks had us taking Hutchinson -- and we should have! This would mean that Dockery is not resigned or he's a b-up.

I'm one of the guys that wanted Hutch.

... I think Seattle will slap the franchise tag on him though and he's going to get a pretty penny. Before anyone jumps on me and says what about Alexander... I believe that Seattle agreed last year when they tagged him to NOT tag him again.

... Dockery is already signed for the 2006 season but I think he has an option on the last year of his contract that might make him a FA, but I'll have to check on that for you. Regardless, since DD only has three 'accrued seasons,' he would be a restricted free agent anyway giving the Redskins right of first refusal.

Dockery might be considered the Redskin's fall-back position this year. If I was in charge, then I'd be looking to replace him, but I don't see them being able to sign Hutchinson. There's only so much money around, and it's not as if they haven't already spent money on the line. More likely is a young prospect for Bugel to work with. And that brings us back to the 2006 draft...

Don't know about Hester, but I'd certainly like to see a playmaker get drafted somewhere, probably after the third round though. The sort of guy I'd like them to get is a cornerback who can return kicks. We still need some help at corner, but it's the reliable return man that we need. Nelms and Mitchell are long gone memories, and I'd love to see somebody back there who is a threat every time he touches the ball, but who you know isn't about to fumble too.

I'm with you Boss - I desperately wanted Hutch too. I'm a big proponent of the adage that good line play more often than not gets you a win.

We already have that young prospect... Jim Molinaro.

Now that would be sweet if we can call him Joe Jacoby JR. in a few years...

But Boss is right, they agreed last year when the put the Franchise Tag on Alexander that they wouldn't do it again, so I'm sure they will put it on Hutchinson since they have a history of using their Franchise Tag.

On another post, someone mentioned Michael Robinson from Penn State. He would be perfect for this type of role....a Brian Mitchell type of player

Devin Hester isn't a real football player. He possesses no actual football skills as far as catching or throwing the ball, playing coverage, running routes, etc... He is just a fast guy with good moves and NOTHING more. If we could afford to spend a high pick on a one dimensional player who can only contribute on special teams then he may be worth it because he is extremely explosive. However, beyond that he doesn't offer anything more to the footabll team and we have more pressing needs right now. I don't think there is any chance we would pick him, only a team that is pretty loaded and is looking for an upgrade on special teams will even consider him, he just isn't a very good FOOTBALL player.

I mean, if there is such a thing as potential, this guy's got it.

See, you start him out as just a KR/PR which doesn't take too much skill, and then during practice and stuff, find out if he will be a WR, CB, or an Antwaan Randle El/ Kordell Stewart.

Yeah, I was telling BossHog that I thought the guy had a lot of potential, and at 6'6", he should definately be able to beat any CB out there for a jump ball.

Ans speaking of BH, in his post earlier in this thread he mention the franchise tag and Shaun Alexander. Basically, he signed a one-year deal, which stipulated they would not use the franchise tag on him again this year, so Hutch will most certainly get it, just as you predicted.

No way does Washington need another QB. The only guy with QB time on his resume that would make sense to get a look would be Michael Robinson. Some of talked about him not getting drafted. If he doesn't go in the 6th round, I'd take him in the 7th. He's a great candidate to morph into another Randle El. What team couldn't use a Randle El?

If the sqwawks have any sense they will give the MVP his payday and they will keep Hutch and the left side intact. I think Allen can afford it Now, IMO, Alexander is a one year wonder and it is a bad deal for them because of all the money they have tied up in him (I can hope anyway!).
But, for now, I think they will keep both those guys.


The only way you will see Bush at FedEx is when his team is playing against the Skins.

we will have to go to houston to see bush play next year.
