I have an idea for the Bucs game.

OK some of you have heard of Tony Dungy's creation which is still used by Tampa's Mone Kiffin a lot. and elsewhere around the league. (Even here in Washington. It's called Tampa 2. His version of cover two.

If you have not heard there is a diagram of the play here under TCwest's post.

It involves the corners playing underneath and the safeties dropping deep to the left and right sides of the field. In Tampa Two it is the MLB's job to cover the receiver/ tight end in the middle of the field.

Any way here is my play idea. Team's are starting to wait for Santana's Screen by bringing the corner a little closer to the line.

Also wheever Clinton Portis splits out wide you can here the MLB yelling watch the Screen at the top of his lungs.

So picture this We're in our Usual shotgun set. Cooley to the right tight end Santana in the left slot. Thrash outside left. Jacobs outside right. Ports and Brunell in the backfield.

Brunell Motions Portis to the right. Again the LB is yellin watch the secreen, because that is the most logical play for portis to be at as a receiver.

Brunell takes the Snap. Jansen runs out to block like the screen play. Portis runs the screen route.
It's obvious it's a screen play. But then Brunell doesn't throw it to portis. He pump fakes the defense is over pursuing as many fast defenses do. (Tampa is very fast).

Santana runs a post similar to the go ahead score he had vs. Dallas.

Santana is in the middle of the field and guess who is covering because their in their favorite play, tampa 2. A LB.

I know the LB will be covering him on this play because if you think back to the first Bucs game we ran it and we ended up getting LaMar Marshall vs. Joey Galloway.

It also happened against Oakland. Jerry Porter ended up scoring on a route over the middle agsainst Lamar Marshall.

I saw a fake screen work against Dallas when Carolina was playing them so it does not take to long to be a successful play.

After the fake if we have Thrash and Jacobs run intemediate out routes after the pump fake the safeies are forced to stay with them so they will not be wide open for another potential big play.

Bottom line we end up with Sanatna moss one on one with a linebacker who will probably bite on the screen anyway.

I think we win with 89 vs. a LB.

It'd be nice, but remember...Rice and Hovar seem to have a way of getting around the OL...causing Markie to fumble.
Those screens need to develop fast.
And Ronde Barber is one of the best in the league at read and react.

Pumpfake the screen, because they WILL bite on it especially if we complete at least one and dump it off to Portis or bomb it to Moss. Keep them honest and scare the crap out of them.

creative... I like it... but against that certain coverage...I'd prefer to fake the screen to CP and run a seem route to Moss and have the defense bite so that Moss creates seperation early.

As a whole I'd like to see more fakes/PA type plays but Im not. I think we're consistent/predictable enough for them to be highly effective.

I have a feeling that the Skins are going to come out playing some inspired ball this week. I just have that in my gut.
