just curious of what my intellgent football friends here on the hogs think about eli manning. i for one am not all that impressed by him. that could be because im thinking of him in light of his brother. but, i wouldnt say hes better than mark brunell. maybe thats just because im a "homer"

He's not that good, even at home. Think about what he's going to rely on when there's 90+ thousand fans screaming into his helmet. He's going to be in a state of chaos. His only dominant weapon will be handing the ball off to Tiki.

If we stop Tiki we stop the Giants.

Eli is a good young QB. In time, he will likely develop into a great QB . . . but he is certainly not a great QB right now.

He can be rattled....and, as one of the 12th Man gang at Fed Ex this Saturday, I'm gonna do my darndest to rattle young Eli!

Eli is going to be a beast but right now we can use his inexperience against him. This is why Gibbs likes his veteran players. Brunell wouldn't be fazed like Eli will be, not to say Brunell wouldn't be affected but it would definately be to a lesser degree.

We can stop Tiki, we just need to hope our pass rush carries over into this game. Did anyone notice that WE HAD A PASS RUSH?!?!

i think i may disagree... i dont think eli will end up a ''beast'' I REALLY THINK, he will end up being just allright. he wont be amazing, but he wont be a bust. he will be good, but not a super star. i think he will always be overshadowed. not only by his brother but, by the star of thier team. tiki barber.

I think Eli is definately going to be a monster. This is only his second year and he progressed A LOT. His faults from this season thus far seem to stem from inexperience and immaturity at the QB position. I dont know if its pedigree but its something that the Peytons are doing right. Maybe I'll end up wrong but this cat is showing signs of becoming a heck of a QB. The fact that he's led his team thus far in his 2nd year speaks a lot about him also. He may not be winning the games but he's not losing them completely either.

Man I couldnt believe my eyes. We had a pass rush from our four down linemen. Its a miracle I said. Well if they can do it against a fairly stout Dallas line Im sure they can do it to a although improved from last year giants line. The main thing was the confidence level the defense was playing with. They looked like the 85 bears well maybe im taking it a little to far but dang that was a dominating performance.

Eli is like Big Ben. He's surrounded by a lot of talent and it makes him look better than he is. If you put the game on Eli's shoulders (whcih should be our game plan) the Giants will lose.

in his last three games he has thrown for only 2 TDs and 6 INTs....if we can stop TIKI and put the game on his shoulders, he will buckle under the pressure....the way our defense has been playing the past 4 weeks, we should get a couple of INTs...no problem!

He has been playing like crap lately, even at home.

Hopefully he has no confidence, we can have the Giants playing from behind early, and force him to make plays.

Good post JF! I also think he might be v. good at some stage but we only have to beat who he is now, this week, and that is not that big a deal IF we make our tackles and "follow the GW script". I also do not think he's progressed far enough to be the QB leader - he's not bad, but he's not the leader they hope he will be, yet!

He's got a good supporting cast, ask him to win a football game by himself = won't happen. That is what the gameplan will be...

eli has the potential to be great with time but for now he ,s still learning and learning quite well too.

I'll have to disagree with you on this point. Yes Eli does have a strong supporting cast but he has been at his best in pressure situations in the 4th quarter. He has 7 td's and his qb rating is highest in the 4th. On top of that he has a qb rating of 95.9 during the last 2 minutes of a half and a rating of 108.9 when his team is either up or down by 3 in the 4th quarter. Against both the Broncos and Vikings he led his team on late scoring drives to either win the game or send it to overtime. Does he get rattled sometimes and make mistakes typical of young qb? Ofcourse. But we can't take him too lighlty because he has stepped his game up to another level when the Giants have needed him to.

I beg to difer JF is right on...Tiki has bailed Eli out more then a few times this year. Eli was awful in the Minn. game and you want to talk pressure...He's been terrible on the road where he's won 2 games. I'd like to see his numbers on the road? He will struggle big time this week at FedEx.

Actually if you check the stats you'll see that overall his stats are better on the road. The Giants record is worse on the road than at home, as is the case with most NFL teams, but you can't put that totally on Eli.
