Ray Lewis a 'skin?

I was talking with my friends today, and one of them was saying that at the end of this year Ray Lewis's contract is up and he heard that Lewis may leave Baltimore and might want to play in Washington so he can stay in the area.

I laughed at the suggestion but I was wondering if anyone else had heard anything about this?

No he is washed up, and I don't like him.

Probably will need to spend money wisely, say a WR or DL. I don't know about you guys but I'm pretty happy with Marshall

The days of Over spending on aging ex-superstars is over. Thank god.

Plus we can not take the risk of him stabbing somebody.

we don't want that criminal playing for us.

I don't believe he's washed up...However, I would NOT want to spend big bucks on him. When healthy he's still a dominant player.

Bringing in Ray would be dumb on multiple levels...

1. Lemar is finally where Peirce was when he left. Lemar will be in his 2nd year at this position next year. He should mature into the signal caller that Peirce was.

2. Lemar imo is probally better in coverage than Ray.

3. Team chemistry. Why are Skins fans so quick to destroy it when it doesn't need to be rebuilt. This D is gelled together and unless we NEED an upgrade at a position we NEED not mess up the chemistry of the defense.

4. Money...

5. We need other positions moreso than MLB. Actually we dont need a MLB for some time to come. McCune? Did yall forget? We need a DE to help out secondary out. We need a DE to improve our turnover ration. We need a tall atheltic WR to catch passes in traffic and to keep the coverage off of Santana.

I don't want RLewis in DC but to say you don't want him to play for us because he's a criminal doesn't make sense.

You don't want STaylor playing for us either then? Yes, he's not proven guilty yet but.....

Yeah, we already have Sean Taylor on our team. One criminal is enough, right? Image

Oops. He's innocent until proven guilty! (Darn it! I have to start thinking that way!!!!)

I was wondering how long it'd take for someone to say that.

Ray Ray isn't as dominating as he once was, but age & constant pounding will do that to you.

I honestly wouldn't mind him on the Skins, if he came at a reasonable price. I think Marshall would be better suited to weakside anyways (and Arrington may be on his way out). Ray Ray would also provide some nastiness leadership in our locker room, something we just don't really have.

But no way Gibbs takes this guy on. He's a lot more risk averse than he was in his first stewardship of the team.

I disagree. We dont need Ray's leadership. Look at who we have in there now. Just because our guys aren't household names doesn't mean they aren't leaders. We have some hardened vets on that defense and just because they may start doesn't mean that their experience doesn't lend to our younger guys.

Marshall is leading the team in tackles. He filled Pierces shoes completely in contrast to last year. Our rep of stuffing the run holds true from last year. Marshall wasn't the reason for our D dropping in ranking it was our lack of a pass rush. Our blitzing was not as effective since people had tape and time to plan against us unlike last year.

Ray is not worth the money or messing up the teams chemistry. Ray became ineffective when the Ravens werent able to keep people from blocking him.

Yeah, one crimal is enought

Ray has a couple of years left still on his contract. He wants to renegotiate to the contract he signed two years ago. Ray wants the one last big payday. He's not going anywhere.

I nominate CLL as the person to replace Vinny Cerrato in the front office.

Seriously.

I would be really surprised if Williams would want (or need) a Ray Lewis player (or person).
I totally agree with CLL that the primary upgrade next year is going to be improving the defensive line so we can get better pressure. I think we are fairly "good" at LB. We may need more depth/upgrade in the secondary also. A (tall) WR is another need.

IMO, we are going to need the coaches (and scouts) to find some "gems" on these other rosters because that is where our immediate help is coming from. Apart from the lack of high draft picks, neither Gibbs or Williams seem inclined to use young talent, on either side of the ball, except the talent they now have. While they may get some "talent" off the lower picks I think these guys will be "projects" and provide some depth, initially.

Greg Wiliams is known for getting lesser tallent to play at a high level. If he exits for a head coaching position we will have to start looking to upgrade the tallent. We will need upgrades on the D-line and at LB. I say if we can get Ray at a resonable price, lets do it.

CLL you kinda missed my point, though I could have expressed it better. I meant that assuming Arrington goes, Marshall is a good bet to replace him and play extremely well for us. I don't want to spend an entire year with Holdman (the black hole of playmaking) as our WLB. But, we don't know if McCune is ready to play and start from day one in the middle, which would create a void.

And we do have leaders on this team, I never said we don't. We just don't have really nasty attitude people, which we all know Ray is. I mean Ray will kill you if you mess with him. He's done it before...I know, I know, allegedly.

And to be honest, the guy is one hell of a student of the game. One reason Ed Reed is so good is that he picked up on Ray Ray's insane late night film study sessions.

Lamar should stay at MLB as he will only improve R. McCune may pan out or may not. Ray Lewis is not the answer.

1. He's getting up their in age.
2. We could spend the money much better with Gibbs and Co. calling the shots
3. Lavar will leave $12,846,000.00 in dead cap space if he is not here
