Randy Thomas speech

Well... I guess the only negative to come out of yesterday was the loss of Randy Thomas. I see SO much negativity from the Reedskin faithful that I always feel the need to say something when I have something positive to say.... so here it goes...

Randy Thomas is a stud. You people that walk around here professing to understand football and offensive lines make me laugh every time I read something overly negative about RT. The guy is a pro Bowler and one that actually deserves the slot.

This is thehogs.net.

If you haven't figured out that o-lineman are our bag... then you might as well start smashing your head off of the keyboard to type responses.

When I watch a game... I actually watch the o-line... not the RBs... not the QB... the o-line... on about 8 plays out of 10. I watched Randy Thomas about 60% of the time Sunday.

Why?

Because it was arguably the most dominant performance by a Redskin lineman in a long, long time. I should have logged numbers but RT pulled so much yesterday that I was questioning how on earth he had the stamina to keep doing it.

This guy was pulling with speed that you just don't see linemen pull with too often. He was getting deep into the outside flat and just paving lanes. If you're wondering why you only saw him blow up a couple of people as opposed to a half a dozen, it's because they were GETTING OUT OF HIS WAY. oh sure it's the NFL, so they know how to whiff at a guy and make it look like they have an earnest desire to stop the play but watch the replays.... they were COMPLETELY demoralized by the pulling guard and were scared stiff to step into his path.

Randy ran more than I've EVER seen a lineman run yesterday.

This isn't pity talking... I had half a fifth quarter written before the game was over and half of it was on Randy... but when he went down with the injury... i was crushed and left a lot of it out of the final draught of the article.

But this needs to be said... this guy might be the best pulling guard I've ever seen right now... do yourself a favor... re-watch the game... zone in on #77... and learn how to play the guard position. Watch him team up with a preety darn good run blocker in ole 76 and watch how you bash in the faces of the defense and send them home to their mammas.

That was real hardcore smashmouth football yesterday... and a lot of it was on the heels of a pulling Randy Thomas.

What a shame to lose a guy when he's playing as good as he's ever played. But it'd be an even bigger shame to not at least acknowledge what a stud performance he'd put in before he got injured... wouldn't it?

My 2 cents

You are absolutely correct. Randy Thomas was a beast, and he and the offensive line deserve the credit for the success of the offense. Yes, Brunell had a nice game, but those four TDs obviously were all set up by the juggernaut running game. Even when Portis was stopped right at the line of scrimmage, the Redskins gained four yards--that's how far the O-line had pushed Dallas's linemen upfield.

Those tosses to the outside were nearly unstoppable, even when Dallas knew what was coming. That is what power football is all about.

I can only add one more thing about Randy Thomas: When was the last time a player suffered a broken leg, a season-ending injury, and was carted off the field with the biggest grin on his face you've ever seen? His fist pumps cheering the crowd on, his positive attitude, and his leadership on this team is the kind of stuff that not only wins games, but can turn an entire franchise around.

Anyone know where I can get a #77 jersey?

=D> i agree BH when i watch a ballgame i want to see the samething.i keep a watchful eye in the trenches to see how they open up holes for rb,s.thesame goes for the defense as well.the way it should be played.

the key is watch how things develop thru our OL and our DL.i see things the same way.

=D> to BH

Randy Thomas deserved every cheer and =D> he got. The guy is a class act. In the post game interviews, he was so happy they they beat the Cowboys and you could tell he was sad he wouldnt be able to help us finish our run at the playoffs.

That's why 90,000 people were chanting, "Randy! Randy! Randy!" as h was being driven off of the field.

Thank the Lord that we got some reliability on Ol' Brother Ray Brown...

Unfortunately, I'm not sure if he's got what it takes to move around like Randy does out there, buuuut I guess you can't count him out, he is like 200 years old or something

Exactly, that's why I'm so nervous under Ray Brown.

Randy was in a leage of his own this year, and it showed through the improvement of our offense.

I just don't know if Ray has the stanima or skill of Randy and that bothers me, a lot.

But hopefully since he is a veteran, he will pull it together and help us on the way to the Playoffs.

All we need are 5 great games from old Ray Brown. You can do it BIG GUY!!!!! Randy was playing great. Hopefully he heals up good for next year.

Amen !! This is why one of my game balls went to not only the entire O-line but an extra one went to Thomas !!

Thomas is great, to be sure. That's what concerns me about Brown. Many of the players are saying they won't miss a beat, but I just cant' see Brown running around like Thomas did.

No doubt Ive always loved the way Randy plays. I havent heard much bashing of him in the forum either. Well I have a feeling someone is going to step up in the offensive line to cover for Randy. Im hoping Jansen can move to guard or something.

this is the only reason that i haven't felt REALLY good about the win. i would rather had won 8-7 than to have lost thomas. :( damn shame. one day, our o-line will make it through the season healthy. :( one day.

go ray! make us, and randy proud. you can do it!

Forget the "Dirtbags" - the OL (and Mike Sellars) became "HOGS" yesterday...

The loss of Thomas bummed me out too after the game...
I think Ray will be decent for us. The G position is natural to him and a lot less impactful to the offense than if a tackle went down.

Especially with the 2 DE that the Giants have.

Well Ray has been in practice all year, plus a years worth of game time last year. At least he's not a rookie. He's no Thomas but he's not worse the DD.
