Orioles' Tejada Seeks Trade, Wants 'Change of Scenery'

DALLAS, Dec. 8 -- It has taken just two losing seasons for Miguel Tejada, signed before the 2004 season to a six-year, $72 million contract with the expectation that the all-star shortstop would become the cornerstone of the Baltimore Orioles franchise, to become frustrated with the organization and ask for a trade.
In a phone interview in the Dominican Republic with the Associated Press, Tejada said he would like to move on.
"I've been with the Orioles for two years and things haven't gone in the direction that we were expecting, so I think the best thing will be a change of scenery," Tejada said. "I've done many things with this team and I haven't seen results, and the other teams are getting stronger while the Orioles have not made any signings to strengthen the club."

and you thought that was going to change? bwhahahahhahah.

The Orioles are destined to suck until I turn 35 at the earliest. Im not a baseball fan but the DC team sparks my interest a bit. Baltimore sports suck.
Ravens - suck
Orioles - really suck
The Blast - ? are they still around
The Stallions - They were halfway decent

Yeah, the Blast are still around and are the only good team in Baltimore.
The Stallions? The good ole' Baltimore CFL team. Man those are memories right there. Didn't Alvin Walton play for them?
Regarding Tejada, I thought him of all people would fight through this to help the team get in contention. Never thought he would be the type of leader to quit on a team.

Tejada is understandably frustrated in my opinion, a team that ranked 25th in ERA and 23rd in WHIP lets their closer go and adds no pitching whatsoever. Granted, adding Mazzone as the pitching coach is a coup but it remains to be seen how much of an impact he can have in the offense-first American League. Plus the vaunted Orioles offense didn't crack the top 10 in runs scored, average or on-base pecentage. This is partially due to Brian Roberts injury but the team could stand to add another hitter. On top of all that, Angelos is a greedy bastard. All this while the Blue Jays have improved tremendously and the Yankees are still the Yankees. O's are looking at a third place finish, maybe even a last place finish given the way Tampa closed out the season.

If we give up Erik Bedard, I'll punch Mike Flanagan in the face.

Reading this article just shows how much Baseball needs some sort of salary cap.
Is Manny really making that much money?
That is rediculous..
Manny is a product of Fenway.
Hope he does not end up with the O's

I can't believe the Red Sox are thinking about trading Manny. That is by far the stupidest thing ever! Manny Ramirez is a Yankee killer. Getting rid of him is dumb. But I guess the Red Sox are thinking that the Yankees Suck right now and they will for a while so they don't need that offense that Manny brings. But it is still a dumb thing to do.

OK, I may owe Tejada an apology. Apparently, Tejada did not ask for a trade. What he said was that he wanted to win and the Orioles cannot win in the AL-East without upgrading the pitching staff. He further stated that he had nothing against the pitchers that are in Baltimore, but that every team needs an ace. He then finished by stating that he wants to be with a winning organization and the Orioles need to upgrade the pitching staff to be a winning organization. He then said that if the team does not, then it is a sign that the team does not want to win.
I have to say that I have said everything Miggy said (other than things that pertain to playing obviously).

Thanks for the clarification. I dont like baseball and I dont care for the O's but Im glad he stepped up and said it. Im glad that as a leader he said something that should echo thru the organization and wake up some folk. Hopefully they'll listen. The Orioles seem content and operating in mediocrity.

If I'm the O's I would think hard about this one. Abreu could be very good in the AL, and Gavin Floyd has a bright future.
