B. Smith, Green could be in fold
By Jody Foldesy
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
Bruce Smith is willing to listen, and Darrell Green's phone should ring soon.
A pair of future Pro Football Hall of Fame selections could have futures with the Washington Redskins this season — Smith potentially as a player and Green perhaps in some other capacity with the club.
Oh, please. Not another year of this. He wants to be a coach or a consultant, fine. As a player ? All I can say is, "Waiter ? Check, please !"

For the love of God! Bruce Smith is done! Why doesn't he just "go gently into that good night" or something!?!?!?!

I can't imagine Gibbs would want Smith as a player, his pass rushing skills have eroded greatly and he can not stop the run in any fashion. I wouldn't panic.

Would it be out of the question to send Smith a copy of the "Help Wanted" section of the Buffalo newspaper? I'd rather he coach up there.

If you read the article carefully, nowhere does it say that anybody from the Redskins contacted Bruce about this. I have NO doubt it was in response to a direct question from a reporter. Here's all we know:
Smith, the defensive end who indicated in December he was ready to retire, yesterday said he would listen if new coach Joe Gibbs and his staff approach him.
"Absolutely," Smith said at Redskin Park. "I'd listen. I would certainly entertain the thought, but we'll see what happens."
He's not saying anything different than he did when he played here.

Jake, you'll certainly appreciate that I posted that at a little after midnight, a good four hours before you linked it. I wouldn't dream to usurp you; You're the next coming of NewsHog, if he decides to take a break. Still, I wasn't sure if I was able to link it without getting reamed by the BossHog. In the future, I'll get with NewsHog and you first. Sound good ? Ordinarily, I wouldn't go that way, but it disturbed the hell out of me that Smith might be considered for a DE position on a Gibbs-Coached team.

tcwest, we pretty much know for a fact you aren't a spammer. anything you can link to the rest of the group is usually very helpful, and very welcomed. it's just the paying for this, or joining a site for that, that we frown on. advertisment on this site cost.... just talk to boss if you wish to purchase air time

as long as you aren't trying to self promote, or sell anything feel free to link.
