Saw this on a fantasy footbal site:

Ladell Betts, RB WAS

News: Ladell Betts sprained an MCL knee ligament in Week 10, leaving his status for Sunday's game against Oakland in question.

Analysis: James Thrash would replace Betts as the primary kickoff return man, and Rock Cartwright would serve as the backup to Clinton Portis in Betts' absence.

Cartwright is okay too. I remember he always got those short yards that we desperately needed in the past.

As long as he doesn't fumble it away like he did in KC.

I have trouble forgetting his KC fumble.

Nemo was called up to gameday squad the last time Betts was injured as the number 3 RB. I'm pretty sure he also returned a kick-off, but his yardage on that wasn't spectacular. I'm thinking he'll get called up again this week to back up Rock.

It was a really short kick that Nemo handled.

What CLL?!?!?!? You not getting enough Wheaties?

Any 7th round pick that even makes a roster is not only not a wasted pick, but a good pick sheerly on the grounds of making the team.

I'd personally like to see Nemo in there a litte. I think he brings a lot of attitude to our goalline running game... attitude that we seem to sometimes lack. He needs to hold on to the rock for sure, but he's had a lot of time and practice to think about it since he last played.

Manuel White didn't look as good as nemo in training camp and he was a 3rd round pick... now THAT could very well end up being a wasted pick. In fairness to White though, they had him playing at HBack while Nemo got to play at RB.

White's injury leaves the verdict on him undetermined, but I think Nemo is/was a great last round pick-up... only time will tell.

I dont think Nemo is a wasted pick. I think he's a heck of a player. When I said wasting picks I meant by not using him we're wasting picks. Id love to see Nemo in there and I think that having him behind Sellers not only in goaline situations but as a change up behind Portis would yield great dividends. This kid is big and he's a dozer. I know he coughed it up during the preseason once or twice but who hasn't dropped a pass, or fumbled this season. Mr. Everything aka Cooley has had fumblitis, Brunell taunts dlinemen with the ball, Rock likes to fumble and Betts gets alligator arms in traffic. Not to rag on our guys but they've all done things that people definatly tend to keep rookies off the field for and like you said he's prolly learned his lesson so lets give him ago.

Unless he's stinking it up in practice and then my argument is moot.

If you've got a guy called Nemo, you just have to get him on the field. That's too good a nickname to be left on the bench. In my head, I can already hear the crowd chanting his name, as he gets brought in for short yardage downs.

Feel bad for Betts though. He really seems to have come on in the last couple of years, and he needs to stay healthy to keep developing.

Could be a fish, could be a fabled submariner...
Yeah. I'm behind that. Let's play him because he has a cool name.
...but only if he protects the ball. :)

I would like to see the young guys step up.
Some players never get the chance to show themselves in the NFL. Hopefully they take advantage of the opportunity.

Well, one thing about this coaching staff is that if a guy does the business in practice, then he will get a chance. If Nemo is good enough, he'll be out there. But, like tc said, he's got to protect the ball - Gibbs doesn't tend to forget fumblers very quickly.
