I know it is way to early to be looking ahead at the draft, but what do you see as needs we should target? I would like to see more DL depth, possibly a speed type rusher on the edge. Also, I would like to see another TE in the mix.

I agree, some depth on the DL should be #1 priority, but I think that if there arent any good DL players available then we should trade down.

It's hard to tell without knowing what will happen with free agency and cap cuts. If the team was exactly the same, I would say that we need depth at WR, CB, and DE. A stud pass rusher would be nice, although the assignment of the DL currently is run containment. I would say DT, but Aki Jones and Ryan Boschetti have impressed me in their limited appearances, and Corny and Salave'a are studs.

A pass rusher is always needed. A big WR would be nice and you can never go wrong with o-line depth. Don't forget we have no 1st rd pick.

If he falls to the 2nd Round (which is doubtful), then DE Mathias Kiawanuka from Boston College.

We need a DE before anything else!

After that we need a BIG WR.

3rd would be a CB. Shawn has another 2 years or so left in him.

I know that we spent a first rounder on CB this year, but we still are hurting at that position and Springs and Harris aren't getting younger. We will likely need another QB this coming year also. Still, what I would like to see is OL and DE positions addressed. We need some more depth at the guard psotiions as Ray Brown won't be here next year, and Friedmana dn Raymer aren't getting any younger. Both of our starting DE's are getting old. We could really use a stud at that position anyway.

What I would like to see? I'd like to see us pick up a Guard, CB, TE, Off. Tackle, DE, and QB in the draft. Then get an impact DE in Free Agency. It would be nice to look at Guards, and CB's in Free Agency as well.

Of course, when the offseason comes you never really know who is going to be available in Free Agency. Your Draft will be effected by that.

Anyone know what our cap situation is going to look like this offseason since we just suffered the $9 million cap hit for Coles this year? Does this offseason look like a good one, or are we still paying for players from two years ago?

I think a DE will have to be through the draft. A good free agent will be way too expensive. I also think that Kiwanuka will be a top 10 pick.

Then maybe Darryl Tapp from VT.

Who knows? It's only November. A LOT will change by then. It always does.

Just get me a damned pass rusher! After that, I think quality depth anywhere will be the order of the day.

But you're right, it's too early to be talking about the draft. For the first time in years, the Redskins are going to have some meaningful games to play in December. So, I'll start thinking about the draft some time in February, thanks.

Man o man, we definately need some draft picks. Last year was NOT wasted on Campbell but it STILL sucks to not have a 1st round pick.

I think we should trade our second rounder for a guy like, oh i dont know, TO. Now I know most of our fans probably don't want him on the team. But I think Joe Gibbs can really change him and this latest development in Philly will really affect TO's attitude. If we could get him for a second rounder wwe would be stealing him. Owens, Moss, Portis, ey, and Brunell. Our offense would be one of the best if not the best in the league, and we would still have a great D.

I love nothing more than to talk about the Upcoming NFL Draft. It is by far my favorite sports subject, and it disappoints me and makes me semi-angry that we dont have a ONE to play with but here is a list of candidates I have found for the 64th pick in the draft.

I think it is pretty obvious I want a lineman, Jackson and Haralson are projected higher than 64th but a guy can dream

T.O.? Off the field the guy is a menace to the team. He's the exact opposite of what the 'Skins expect from their players. No sense in spending tens of millions on a pain in the ass who may or may not change his attitude.

I'm all for getting a DE in the draft. Teams are picking up our LB blitzes and it's frustrating to see an 8-man rush get stuffed each week. Our front 4 HAS to get SOME pressure and penetration. I think we can get a #2 caliber CB through free-agency. We can pick up O-line depth later in the draft that we can develop. One of our two that we drafted last year could be ready to step up.

How 'bout drafting a real good punter/kicker? What round do they typically go in? 4 or 5? (I'm not very football-savvy yet) Both of our veterans are aging and getting injury-prone. It would be nice to pick up a young, talented P/K with a monster leg that we can groom to take over for Hall or Tupa.

But right now it's hard to predict who will be available in the mid second round.

And unless Kiwi gets injured, I am almost a 100% sure he won't be there, I mean he was going to be a top 10 pick this year...

A guy I think might be there when we pick is G Max Jean-Giles from Georgia. The guy is a beast and if Dockery doesn't improve, this guy could really help our run support and pass protection.

I think we should use this next draft to add depth to our team considering we don't have any large upcomming FA, but our team isn't getting any younger.

CB(Maybe Jimmy Williams he falls this far, Tye Hill...)
WR(We could get Sinorice Moss and have the bro's)
DE/DT(I like Jakes idea of D Tapp or Manny Lawson from NC state)
TE(this is a great class of TE: Bryd of USC, Mercedes Lewis of UCLA, Mills from Tulsa...)

But who knows at this point, anything could happen.

Tapp would be a great pick up. Dude is a absolute beast. hopefully he won't get drafted in the 1st round.

I agree with Jake. Things can change drastically between now and April. We need, IMO, a passrushing DL. I would also like to see some depth on the OL. Kiwanuka would be great, but we virtually have no shot in round 2 to get him.

Do we even have any draft picks left in 2006?

This is genius. If we assume for a moment that our 2007 pick will be the 32nd in the draft, then we might as well trade for anybody else's first rounder in 2006. I just don't see any flaws in this.

Our first pick must be a DE -- this is an absolute must for us, we get no pass rush from our front 4.

after that...

CB as Harris is really a nickel or dime back only, Springs is getting older. This pick could take a year getting ready as either the dime or nickel (with Harris).

Backup OT as our backups are older or marginal. Samuels & Jansen are getting older and we can't afford to lose them without having someone ready to step in...Ray Brown scares me.

Another DL -- probably a DT, you can never have too many.

Punt returner...please. I love Thrash but he doesn't do much. We lose approx 5-7 yards of field position each time we field a punt.

Another OL - this could be a guard or center - you can never have too many of these guys either.

Free Agency -- Three needs:

An aging backup QB that doesn't cost a bunch. I can see Gibbs trading Ramsey away. I don't believe Campbell is ready and won't be for a couple years. I'd rather keep Ramsey but get this feeling he's outta here after this year.

A bigger WR that has proven his worth. I hate drafting WR's, they take too long to come around. I wouldn't break the bank here -- maybe pay something like Patten got, or a bit more.

A OG that is around 29-30, a guy a team wants to keep but can't because of salary...I'm not sold on Dockery.

Actually, I think that we should pick up a veteran DE that knows how to play the game. I'm pretty sure the best DE's and DT's will be taken by the time our name is called.

I think he may be one of the best LB's in the game. I may have a biased opinion, though.
