Brunell is doing great and he seems to finally be doing the things we first envisioned when he came hear last year. But we all know this is a two to three year thing he is getting up there in age. I think my pick would be to go with Jason Campbell P-Ram is about done I think at least as a redskin.

No question it's Jason Campbell. I mean why would we draft a QB in the first round so we could bench him for his career???

ramsey is done HERE, IMO...jason campbell is the way to go in the future, but as for right now, stick with brunell man.

You think Brunell will last 5 years? For some reason, I don't see that happening. Brunell will probably play productively for another three years, MAX.
After that, it'll be JCampbell behind center.

by all due respect, another three years WOULD be 5 years.
if brunell gets injured during this season or the 2006 season, ramsey will fill in. then come 2007 jason campbell is starting.

Who said anything about 5 years? Or is that what his contract is?

um, how about whoever is playing better, ramsey or campbell. i'm not so sure anymore that gibbs plans on simply ditching ramsey.

There is no doubt that Joe plans on it being Campbell. If Campbell continues to improve on where he is currently at, I expect to see him starting and playing at an elite level by 2007.

Who is going to replace Brunell in a couple years?
No one. There is none other like him, IMO.
However, since the team will need a QB when Brunell retires as a Redskin, following 2 SB wins, I think the likely candidate will be Patrick Ramsey.
For some reason, I don't see Patrick going to another team. I honestly believe Joe is developing a system to keep the greatnes of the franchise going. Call me naive, if you will, but I see the order of succession as Brunell, Ramsey, and then Campbell. After all, benching Campbell won't stunt his growth and development as a student of the game, which, can only add to his abilities as a Redskins QB.

I have to go with Campbell. I think Ramsey will be an excellent QB somewhere, but with the stigma of the Spurrier regime, coupled by the way he has been handled by the team, I just don't think he can be successful here.
I will always be a Ramsey fan, no matter where he goes (NFC - East excluded of course).

There is no way that Ramsey will be around Redskins park in 5 years. He has a lot of potential and other teams have already seen that. The Jets came begging for him a few weeks ago. But in this time of free agency and with some qb's not producing with the injuries/poor performance by so many in the leagues, you can bet that there will be people lined up offering to give us a few things we really need to get Patrick this off season. Don't get me wrong I love the guy, and I'd love to keep him as a back up, but it just will not happen.
So my vote goes to Jason Campbell. And if I thought otherwise it'd be awful silly. Joe Gibbs took a lot of heat for drafting Jason and he'd not have bothered if he didn't see something great there. After the Santana Moss thing, I believe in Joe and what he invisions for this team.
As far as how much longer Brunnell will last, I cannot believe any of you are even guessing. You are the same people, like me, that didn't even want to see him in there starting this season. I am a humble enough person to admit I was wrong and that he has shocked everyone. So no one can even try to predict how much gas he has left in his tank.
Oh and to the bonehead in The Sporting News who told the guy complaining that Brunnell was getting more fantasy football points then his QB to wait it out, it wouldn't last. He can eat his words later in the season, because it certainly looks like it's lasting to me!

Next year will be Ramsey's last year on contract. I think that it will also be Brunnel's though I'm not positive about that. remember though that he renegotiated his contract after last years abyssmal performance and I beleive he signed a two year deal.
So, Ramsey will want to be traded in the offseason since he needs to go somewhere to show that he can be the guy or his career is likely over. Brunnel will probably play out his contract here and then retire at age 36 or 37. So, 2007 it will be Campbell, and we will need two back ups as well. Of course, if Brunnel continues to play this well next year, then Joe will try to get him to sign an extension.
But its definetly going to be Campbell. Ramsey will have to leave the Redskins if he wants to continue to play int he NFL.

Bravo!
I agree. I hated Brunell last year. Hated him! Boy, do I love him this year though!
I don't remember what I might have said about him last year, but whatever it was I was wrong.

Ramsey is NOT done here...you guys saying that are the same ones that were saying that Brunell was DONE last year. If Ramsey was done, they would have traded him to the Jets when they inquired about him.
Joe Gibbs is very patient...just as Joe believed that the book wasn't closed on Brunell last year, I really think Gibbs doesn't believe the story is up on Ramsey yet either.

I believe he already is.
Did you notice the way he confidently handed the ball off in the waning moments of the SF game, or the poise he showed on the two rockets he fired in the Meadowlands?
All kidding aside, it's the little things that show Patrick is being groomed as Brunell's succesor. What about Campbell? What ABOUT him? His time will come.
Remember, as Joe said, he's working on a five-year plan, and, yes, Campbell is his guy, but he won't make any moves that ruin the five-year plan. After all, who's gonna give Ramsey big bucks at this unproven stage of his career. He's better off learning from Brunell, and stepping into his starting role, in 2007**.
**All, this, of course, assuming Ramsey doesn't force a trade.**

I meant five additional years.
