T.O. says Eagles would be better with Favre

Updated: 3:24 a.m. ET Nov. 4, 2005
Terrell Owens is at it again.

The outspoken Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver made more controversial remarks in an interview with ESPN on Thursday.

For starters, Owens thinks the 4-3 Eagles could be undefeated at this point in the season — if they had Green Bay's Brett Favre at quarterback.

ESPN analyst Michael Irvin recently said the Eagles would be undefeated if Favre was their quarterback.

When asked to respond to Irvin's comment, Owens said: "That's a good assessment, I would agree with that just with what [Favre] brings to the table.

"A number of commentators will say he's a warrior, he's played with injuries. I feel like him being knowledgeable about the quarterback position, I feel like we'd probably be in a better situation."

While the comment was another jab from Owens at Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, he did say "our record would probably be better" if McNabb wasn't hurt.

McNabb has been bothered by several injuries this season.

Owens also told ESPN he was upset that the Eagles didn't publicly recognize his 100th career touchdown catch at home against the Chargers on Oct. 23.

"That right there just shows you the type of class and integrity that they claim not to be," said Owens, who became the sixth receiver in NFL history to reach the milestone. "They claim to be first class and the best organization. It's an embarrassment. It just shows a lack of class they have. My publicist talked to the head PR guy and they made an excuse they didn't recognize that was coming up. But that was a blatant lie. Had it been somebody else they probably would have popped fireworks around the stadium."

Owens, who is unhappy with his contract, told ESPN he wants to remain in Philadelphia but doubts that will happen.

"At this time I'm being honest with myself just trying to look toward the future and I just don't see myself really being here. It's not because I don't want to be here but I just don't foresee them doing the necessary things to keep me here."

He walked -willingly- into a set-up news trap.

These are beginning to look like the Eagles of old. Every player against every other player. Every fan against every other fan. Philthy's "loyal" fans are already calling for the resignation of Andy Reid.

But also:

Lack of class and integrity in Philthy? Precious! ROTFALMAO

Come on TO, you are coming around to go against the Evil Empire, as a selfish worthless cancer, but still.

Go on TO, keep working your magic in Philthy!

The Eagles will UNRAVEL when they lose in FedEx at the hands of our boys this Sunday night. No need to be a prophet to say that. :lowblow:

Today it just feels like something is going to happen.
Spadaro is like the mouthpiece for the Eagles is you ever go to their website philadelphiaeagles.com . He always backs the front office moves.
He posts an article today blasting TO, and calling for "something to be done".
This guy never says anything bad about the team. It's almost a prelude to something going down. Reid has a presser at 12:45. I'm not sure if they are going to announce a contract for Westbrook or suspend TO

Can't say I'm not enjoying watching the team spin out of control. For too long I've had to put up with Redskin bashers slam Synder and even Gibbs initially (although you don't hear much of that "washed up" nonsense anymore.)
The Eagles can suck it.

my buddies in geosystems and i just read that article about TO and were disgusted by his outspoken behavior. the man is obviously a waste of time and talent, and we would not mind if he was benched by andy reid for the rest of the season--give him the keyshawn treatment. TO is a *w*itch and needs to be kicked back into his place--ON THE BENCH

Terrelldorado is making it very hard to be an Eagles fan right now. Ever since his true colors showed (ie right after SB) I've said, I'm and Eagles fan not a TO fan. IMO, you can only be one or the other.

Hindsight is 20/20. I didn't expect him to be such a &$%(#*&%$( until we started losing. He said he just wanted to be on a winning team, and I believed him. Now he says he just wants to be paid. If the Eagles paid him, in a year he'd come up with something else. He'd probably ask for the stadium to be named after him, or the city.

UGH

You should. He has been true to that. Only problem is ...

He is not in a winning team anymore. He is a CANCER. He destroys the chemistry of EVERY team he plays in. He is the most selfish, arrogant and worthless individual in the NFL.

He is destructive to himself and his team. Good!

Schlereth wrote:Now he says he just wants to be paid.

You should believe him too. So, start bringing your wallet out, take away space from your cap, and deliver the green.

He will deliver in return:

1) Brainless remarks such as "the Eagles do not recognise individual achievements" etc etc

2) Criticisms to his players and coaches.

3) A great circus/soap-opera spectacle for Philthy fans!

I could not have thought of a better acquisition for the Eagles. You took him away from Baltimore and you deserve every bit of him.

Too sad to see the face of Andy Reid SWALLOWING CROW today. He is far too great a guy to deserve this behaviour.

TO is a trash-talking fool. Everyone understands getting upset after a loss, but this guy can only blame his QB's. First Jeff Garcia (whom TO said was gay) and now McNabb ("I'm not the one who got sick...", "Favre...") TO could be playing on the Colts and still find fault with Manning. Wonder what he would say there?

Just saw TO issuing an apology on Channel 4 news.

Updated: 6:04 p.m. ET Nov. 4, 2005

PHILADELPHIA - Terrell Owens is causing more trouble with his mouth than his hands — again.

Owens apologized to the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, one day after blasting the organization for not publicly recognizing his 100th career touchdown catch two weeks ago.

“I’ve had an opportunity to talk with the Eagles organization and I have learned that the team does not recognize individual achievements,” Owens said in a prepared statement. “It has been brought to my attention that I have offended the organization and my teammates. Therefore, I would like to apologize for any derogatory comments toward them.”

Shortly before Owens’ apology, coach Andy Reid didn’t rule out suspending the All-Pro wideout following his latest comments, which included more criticism of quarterback Donovan McNabb.

“I take care of those things in-house,” Reid said. “I obviously will address the player and those people I need to talk to and work this thing out.”

It’s unlikely Owens would be suspended now that he’s apologized. However, it’s still a possibility. In 2003, Tampa Bay declared wideout Keyshawn Johnson inactive for the final six games and sent him home because of differences with coach Jon Gruden.

Owens said in his weekly radio show on Miami’s 790 AM Friday night that he expected to play against the Washington Redskins on Sunday.

“If I am, I am,” Owens said of being suspended. “That would hurt the team.”

T.O.'s mouth gets him in trouble again
By Shannon Ryan

Terrell Owens may have said too much - again.

The controversial wide receiver's mouth - not his sprained ankle - could keep him out of tomorrow's game against the Washington Redskins.

Before Owens agreed to read an apology at a news conference yesterday, coach Andy Reid did not rule out suspending Owens for remarks he made in a television interview on Thursday.

The rest of what this idiot said on his radio show is in the article.

TO needs to be separated from his teeth to prevent further embarrassment to himself and his teammates. Perhaps Sean Taylor will be able to help out with that? :)

He has been suspended -INDEFINITELY- by the Eagles for "conduct detrimental to the team". Geeeez! It took them a long while to figure that one out!

He will not play on Sunday evening. I wish he would but it ain't gonna happen. Too bad, our Damage Inc team will not have as much fun as they thought they would.

Here's some more, from the Trenton Times, courtesy of KFFL:

Eagles | Owens had a Fight with Douglas
Sun, 6 Nov 2005 06:31:31 -0800

Mark Eckel, of the Trenton Times, reports Philadelphia Eagles WR Terrell Owens had a fistfight with former defensive end and current team ambassador Hugh Douglas. The fight occurred in front of several of his teammates. According to one of the sources the Owens-Douglas fight "was like WWE Smackdown." Another source said both men threw at least two punches during the altercation and when it was over Owens challenged QB Donovan McNabb first and then everyone else in the room saying, "You want some. Anyone else want some." The Eagles refused to comment about the situation, other than the statement that revealed Owens' suspension. Owens and Douglas have been at odds since training camp and almost got into an altercation in an elevator at Lehigh University.

That may be the straw that broke the camel's back. It says here that he has been suspended, with pay, for the rest of the season, and he will never play for the E-gals again.

Reid: T.O. will not play for Eagles this season
ESPN.com news services

PHILADELPHIA -- Terrell Owens will not play for the Philadelphia Eagles again this season.

Coach Andy Reid announced Monday that Owens had been suspended by the team for four games for conduct detrimental to the team, the maximum games allowed by league rules, and would not return to the team for the remainder of the season.

The four-game suspension includes Sunday night's loss to the Redskins.

Owens has informed the Eagles, according to Reid, that the players' union has said it will be filing a grievance on his behalf for this action.

Reid said in his weekly press conference that despite this week's incidents, T.O. was given every opportunity to avoid being suspended but failed to make use of them.

Reid declined to comment on the details that led to Owens' suspension.

It's great to see TO reap what he's been sowing. He made FredEx look like a cupcake, and look where he's sitting. TO will never make the money that his talent could earn simply because he's a locker-room cancer.

I'm wondering who's going to take a look at him on the waiver wire? Will he be released or simply de-activated for the remainder of the season?
