A few stats

Alright, after six weeks I think that it's fair to start looking at some stats seriously. So how about these:

On offense:

Overall ranked 2nd in the NFL (387.2) only 3.1 yds/game behind Seattle!!!!!!!!!   Boy, is that a big difference! We are also second in the league in 3rd down conversion percentage with 46.1%!

Portis is eighth in rushing yds/game with 90.7. Betts is 11th in yds/carry (4.5) and Portis 15th (4.4). We are the ONLY team in the NFL to have two guys in the top 15, not Denver, not KC, but us! Overall, our ground attack is 4th in the NFL at 139.8 yds/game behind only Atlanta, Denver, and Seattle and ahead of Tampa, KC, and Pittsburg!

Mark Brunell has the third best QB rating in the NFL (98.3!) behind only Carson Palmer and Ben Roethlisberger. He is tied with Peyton Manning!

Santana Moss is the #1 in recieving yards by a whopping 88 yds. His closest competitors are Chad Johnson and Torry Holt, niether of which have had a bye week yet. He is averaging 123.8 yds/game, 17.5 more than anyone else! He is 6th in the league in receptions (38 ) and third in yds/catch (19.6). What's more, the only guys ahead of him in that category have only caught 22 and 13 catches. Finally, he is 3rd in TDs with five, only two behind Steve Smith. There is no question, he is the best WR in the NFL right now! He also leads the NFL in 3rd down conversions, somehow he is the best possession guy in the league at only 5'10" AND the best big play threat as well.

On defense:

We are ranked 4th in the NFL! We have also allowed the second least amount of first downs.

We are the only team in the NFL to be in the top five in both offense and defense. Only Indy is in the top ten in both and they aren't even top five in either (8th in offense and 6th in defense). So, to conclude, in most statistical categories we are a dominant team. We have the best balance in the league between offense and defense and between the passing and running game. We have the best WR and an elite QB and RB as well as one of the best defenses in football. This team is VERY good!

I wonder if any analysts will point that out. We were the only team (going into this week) that was in the top 10 with both defense and offense. I didn't hear a peep out of mainstream journalists except one tangential line in an obscure article. No respect. . .

By the way: I love those Moss stats. I can't believe my eyes. . . :)

This is the first time in long time that I feel we can beat any team we play. I know we still need to prove it in the "W" column, but I am starting to feel something special. With a top five offense and defense we should be the team to beat.

We have the 2ND BEST OFFENSE IN FOOTBALL and the 4TH BEST DEFENSE....we are capable of going to the Superbowl....yeah I said it....I am not looking past anyone in the season.

In fact, I feel like a player by focusing on the next opponent only, but seriously, no other team is statistically as good on both sides of the ball.

We have to stay hungry and focused...and Congratulations to Joe Gibbs...he is truly a genius...turning this Offense around in such a short time and finding the right players.

His ability to pick the great ones speaks good things for Jason Campbell.

Wait...wait....lets take what we've got and enjoy it. Don't get too over confident. We're doing great thus far but we still have a rough season ahead of us. I definitely think we have a chance to win every game now but that doesn't mean our team doesn't need improvement!

At his current pace, Moss would finish with 105 receptions, 2,019 yards and 13 touchdowns. The NFL record for single-season receiving yards is 1,848 yards, by Jerry Rice. I really hope he does it!! :D

It's just too bad that Gibbs antiquated offense won't work in today's NFL ... hey Washington Post, how's that 5-11 prediction looking now?

Yeah, I know what you mean Fios. If only we had a decent offensive coordinator and still had Coles and Gardner. We might be able to score more than 17 points...

Oh well, if we hadn't traded our 1st rounder next season, we might be able to get Leinhart still...

I think this is the best Redskins team, including coaching since the Super Bowl team in 1991, now I may not have even the slightest recollection of that team or any team up until about '99 but this team is sweet

That was the only point for my post, WE ARE AWESOME
