The Redskins and linebacker LaVar Arrington will likely part ways following this season. The three-time Pro Bowler is healthy following multiple knee surgeries, but he's still spending most of his time on the sidelines and serving as the team's fifth linebacker. Arrington stands to cost $12.05 million against the salary cap in 2006 and is scheduled to receive a $6.5 million roster bonus July 15, the Washington Post reported.

The Redskins defense has become an elite unit under Joe Gibbs, and Arrington has not been a part of that surge. Given his price tag, it makes sense for the team to seek a trade or simply release Arrington after this season. On the flip side, the Redskins have struggled to create turnovers and have a negative ratio in each of their three games this season. If Arrington is truly healthy, we'd think he'd be able to help in that area.
