He kicked the game winner, yes, but his kickoffs were terrible. Hard to vote for him.

True, his kickoffs were pretty bad. One almost landed at like the 25!

Unfortunately, Hall's kick offs aren't much deeper. Did you see Rackers on sunday night?

Don't forget Stadio Azteca is at 7000 ft. Mile & a half high.

They should have tried a 64 yarder for the record books.

They say that those kicks were purposely done.

Yeah, I heard Gibbs say that. Maybe the one that landed on the 27, but not the one that landed on the 11. They started from the 30 on that drive. That one just sucked.

Yeah, kicking it through the uprights is impressive but really not that big a deal. At least I know from my experience playing golf, half that altitude will make the ball go 10% further. At Mexico City's altitude I am sure that translates into at least 15 yards.

Rich Tandler says in his game blog

"I asked Novak about the short, high kickoffs and he confirmed that they were by design. He almost told me what they call that type of kick, but he caught himself, afraid of giving away company secrets. "

Kicker situation

Post's article on Novak:

Personally, I have had enough of John Hall. His injuries consistently put the team in the comprimising position of having to pick a kicker up off of the street.

That being said, I'm not sure Novak can be the guy. He has looked good on field goals, but he needs about ten more yards plus additional air time on his kickoffs, and I'm not sure how easy that is to achieve.

Well, Foxworth won the ROTW in Denver. However, he was a great corner at Maryland, so I'm not too distressed.

On the Novak/Hall situation, I actually would like to keep Novak. He was probably my favorite college player last year. As long as he works on his distance, and we get a powerful leg with a punter (for kickoffs), we should do well with him. He was so clutch in his collegiate career and will be clutch in the NFL.
