Crowd Noise

Hey skins fans, isn't this a great monday?
I went to the bears game opening day and the crowd noise seemed to be better than other years. We caused them to have 3 consecutive penalties, knocking them out of field goal range. Now my seats were really up there so i couldn't really hear how loud it got on the field.
Then, watching last afternoon, the announcers kept talking about how loud it was getting with the 90,000 plus fans there (they obviously didn't look at the club level which was very yellow with empty seats) but I was just wondering, to those who went to the game, especially the ones lower to the ground, how loud was it. I know its not RFK, the seats are just too far away to be another RFK. You can't get that intimidating atmosphere anymore, but u can get it loud. Are the fans doing their job as a 12th man on defense? It looked like it on TV.

It was great! Loud enough for me to be proud!
You can get a real taste of how crazy it was if you watch the highlights on ESPN, watch when brown misses the field goal and look at the crowd behind the posts. It's amazing!
I lost my voice for a few hours.

After that missed field goal, not only was the crowds reaction great, but the camera was just shaking like crazy when they panned down on mikey holmgram..

It was just incredible !! Very loud from our seats in the lower level. We need to keep it up - no matter what the situation is during the games !!

It was loud! Real loud! Very Loud! We kept screaming too. The Seahawks had two seven minute drives in the second half.....maybe it was three......I just know we were loud all the way until the end of those drives. Even when the Seahawk offense was on the other side of the field we didn't shut up at all. We were loud!
At the end of the game when the players were coming back to the tunnell Jansen was slapping hands with some fans along the goal line. Chris Samuels was making '3-0' signs with his fingers. Our kicker got a standing ovation as he was leaving. But the best one of all was Coach Gibbs.......he stopped just as he got to the tunnell and pointed to the crowd, we all cheered when he did this, then he put his thumbs up and said some things. We were loud! Real loud! so I couldn't hear what he said, but I imagine it was something like....YOU GUYS WERE LOUD! THANK YOU! KEEP IT UP!
Its now three long weeks before we can be loud again......that kind of sucks.

Both games I've been to this season have been some of the loudest, by far, in that stadium. Another thing I've noticed - people for the most part haven't been leaving their seats - they've been really into it... great stuff!

it was loud where I was sitting. At first the crowd was wack though. They even told us to sit down when we were on defense at one point. But we stuck through it and by the 2nd quarter everyone was going off around us.
great, great game.

Those who left their seats before the hawks missed the feild goal shouldn't have been let back in the stadium. Yea, I sunk in my seat and wanted to hurt someone but I stayed until it was over. I knew it was possible for him to miss it even if it wasn't likely but that possibility is what makes football the great sport that it is.
The crowd noise was great.

The crowd noise yesterday was ok, nothing too loud, nothing like opening day. I couldn't believe how many empty seats there were. It was absolutely disgraceful! Way more than on opening day. I guess everyone is waiting for them to win more games then start rooting for them.

Me too. I was right infront of the PA in the 400s, and there were times the announcer was drowned out...

Opening Day was loud for only the fourth quarter.....maybe the last drive of the third quarter as well. For this game the stadium was quiet for only the first drive of the first quarter until the Seahawks had their first 3rd down conversion. We all immediately got the place loud. And I don't know where you were sitting, but the seats around me were all filled up until that interception. Then about one out of every ten emptied....maybe it was fifteen or even twenty, but I really didn't count. I didn't care to. I/
We had to get louder.

What game were you at? The top tiers were 95% filled the only section that was sparse was the club level. I never heard one thing that the announcer said during the entire game.

I'm just saying there were a lot of empty seats...but fedex will always be like that I guess. I thought it would be a lot more full since the team is playing well. Maybe they were eating or in traffic lol. Seriously no one noticed people heading for the exits after the seattle pick????

Just posting some observations as a first timer at an American football game.
If that was not loud then I was not there and I can assure everyone that redskins rule is the loudest supporter I have ever sat next to.
I feel sorry now that I did not join himas much as I could have, but in Australia (due to the non-stop nature of the game) we dont yell as loud as that.
There were a large number of people who did leave after the pick and I could not see why. We have the best defence in the league and you have to trust these guys to do their jobs properly
I stayed til the end and would have even if we had lost as you support your team all the way win or lose

Is cloning illegal in Australia because we can use more fans like you.

I was down in the lower level. It was crazy. Usually you have a bunch of suits down there but not this time. Crazy skins fans all around. And it was REAL loud

My son and I were 20 seats up on the lower level and it was loud. I thought the fans were really into the game. Matter of fact I can hardly talk today. Hats off to everyone who was there. I hope I can get to another game this year. This year really feels different then in the past.

It was one of the 5 loudest games I've been to.
The Tampa opener last year was the loudest. Also up there in volume were the Chicago opener and the NY Jets opener.

I has to be even louder on the bottom half of the bowl. You have your bottom half plus our top half falling down on you. Up top we just have ourselves to hear so its not as loud, I guess... However it did get to a point up top where my ear started to twinge from the level of noise.

I remember that people used to say that at RFK you could feel the ground shaking when the fans went nuts. Too bad they did not intentionally design FedEx field in a way that could make the ground shake. There must be a way to do it. Can you put a whole stadium on springs or rollers? Any engineers among us who can explain whether it is feasible? I would love to hear an annoucement that Snyder has decided to retrofit FedEx field so that the ground will tremble, but I have a feeling he would have to design a brand new stadium for fan-induced earthquakes.
